The Game Awards Will Feature 12-15 Unannounced Games | Game Rant

Host and producer Geoff Keighley has been building up to The Game Awards 2020, the latest installment in an annual show he created to recognize talent in the video game industry. While many fans tune in to see which title will be crowned Game of the Year, developers have also made announcements in years’ past. It seems 2020’s show airing December 10 is no exception, with games like Fortnite already teasing reveals.

However, Keighley also let fans know there will likely be somewhere between 12 and 15 brand-new games announced throughout the show. He made this comment while taking part in a Reddit AMA yesterday on r/IAmA, and then clarified these titles have not been announced at all on Twitter when asked by Wushu Studios Communications Manager Nate Najda. Companies like Xbox have teased potential Game Awards announcements, but Keighley did not offer specifics beyond there being a mix of AAA and smaller games represented.

A Redditor named RollingSilver asked Keighley whether he feels there is a “megaton” announcement at this year’s Game Awards, to which Keighley said it’s hard to tell when any one announcement could be exciting or a disappointment for different people. However, he said “I think we have some fun stuff lined up,” and wants people to judge for themselves on Thursday.

On top of the reveals set to take place during the show, both announced and unannounced as of this writing, Keighley has also promised there will be five “world premieres” in the pre-show alongside a Persona 5 musical performance featuring Lyn Inaizumi. The pre-show will begin at 3:30 p.m. PT Thursday, and it will be immediately followed by the main event at 4:00 p.m. PT.

Another subject of discussion during Keighley’s Reddit AMA yesterday was the show’s line-up of guest presenters. Industry veterans including former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime and voice actor Troy Baker are among those confirmed thus far, as are Actress Brie Larson and Director Christopher Nolan, who was confirmed for The Game Awards today. Keighley told one fan there is a presenter “that has been a dream of mine to have at the show,” though he did not specify which one.

Fans who are following news about the upcoming awards show should already know that Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima won the Player’s Choice award. However, they will have to tune in to find out where the rest of the accolades land, and based on Keighley’s teasers there will be a lot more to anticipate throughout.

The Game Awards 2020 will premiere Thursday, December 10 at 4:00 p.m. PT
