Twitch Streamer Goes Viral After Criticizing Predatory Men

Twitch streamers have undergone a lot of drama this year on the platform. With countless bans on Twitch and copyright flags taking place, there’s plenty of unnecessary obstacles that streamers have to suffer through if they want to be successful on the platform.

Not only do streamers have to deal with issues evolving on the platform, but sometimes the trouble can come from their own audience. There are multiple instances where an audience member has victimized Twitch steamers in some sort of capacity, whether it be online cyberbullying or in person.

Recently, one Twitch streamer who goes by the name “Yoojin” discussed the issues of predatory male audience members giving her donations on stream with the expectation that it justifies a deeper connection on her part. A clip of that stream was later posted by her on Twitter, resulting in almost 30,000 likes and half a million views since the time this article was published.

In the video, Yoojin explains that perverted men will sometimes donate money to the stream thinking they have the right to start a conversation with her. Yoojin also states that men will also sometimes think that they have a better chance of getting her attention just because she is a small Twitch streamer, which is not the case. Yoojin goes into more detail by claiming that just because someone donates $100 or she replies once to a whisper, doesn’t mean she wants to keep talking to you; it is simply her responding to a nice gesture. Thinking otherwise is predatorial.

Yoojin then goes on to say that this would normally result in that creepy audience member throwing insults at her, claiming that she is entitled or using more vulgar terms. Yoojin ends by advising these types of predatorial men to meet a girl in real life and not keep attacking her. Many Twitter users have praised Yoojin for speaking up against the issue, tweeting that she is giving the hard facts that some people really needed to hear.

Since the video became successful on Twitter, Yoojin took to the comments to further clarify her argument. She acknowledges that men are also able to experience similar if not identical cases of harmful approaches by audience members on Twitch. The example Yoojin was giving was solely meant to showcase her own experiences with toxicity on Twitch in hopes that people stop being dismissive towards audience members trying to take financial advantage of streamers. At the end of the day, Yoojin just hopes people will stop trying to treat Twitch like a dating service and be upfront about their intentions.
