Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Cheaters Are Now Appearing In Competitive Circles

Cheaters have appeared once again in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Rather than simply harassing the multiplayer fans, they have now been spotted among the competitive community, and the pros are not happy. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War may have curbed cheating initially, but this resurgence has many players concerned for the game’s future.

Cheating continues to be a problem for the Call of Duty franchise since the addition of crossplay. Most cheating is centered around the PC community, but as cheaters take their trade to the next level, it threatens the core of the competitive gaming community for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

In a clip captured by @Serveris_ on Twitter, the player captures live footage of a cheater in the middle of a $2,000 Call of Duty tournament. Throughout the footage, players can see clear signs of pre-aiming. The streamer claims that the hacker scored 71 kills as opposed to his teammate’s 19 kill average. For someone to be cheating in a competitive event with a cash reward, it automatically caused a ripple through the entire game community.

For the current Call of Duty competitive season, players are mainly competing on the PC platform. Many Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans considered cheating inevitable as there is a lack of formal anti-cheat operational in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. @Serveris_ is not the only player to report this as @devzelv2 also witnessed a cheating player at a competitive event.

In the second clip, the player in question is pre-aiming at an uncommon angle and then proceeds to fire at a player through the wall. Call of Duty Pro Clayster commented on this post, pointing out that even as a 3-time world champion, he has never been able to predict a player like this. Clayster’s comment reinforces the claim of cheaters among the competitive base leaving all eyes on Activision for how it will deal with the situation.

Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare have been battling against cheaters for roughly a year. Each ban wave, patch, and anti-cheat measure seems to be only a temporary fix to a fast-growing problem among the game’s community. Now that the cheaters are threatening the competitive market, fans are expecting a rapid response from Activision, which has so far not commented on the many Call of Duty streamer claims.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
