Cyberpunk 2077 players have been making plenty of use of the game’s detailed character creator, with players sharing their designs online. One Cyberpunk 2077 character creation has sparked extra attention, however, as someone has brought Sombra from Overwatch into the game.
While most Overwatch fans that main the Damage character have been busy finding hidden spots for Sombra’s translocator, Reddit user Karl_DRG decided it would be a good idea to recreate the character within Cyberpunk 2077. Reconstructing the female version of V to look just like Overwatch’s popular hacker, the character translates incredibly well to the more realistic art style seen in Cyberpunk 2077. With the finished design, Karl_DRG is able to “boop” the characters of Cyberpunk 2077 just like Sombra often does in Overwatch.
The design was shared to the r/Overwatch subreddit, with the post picking up a decent amount of traction on the dedicated forum for Blizzard’s hero shooter. Karl_DRG’s design captures many of the elements seen in Sombra’s original design, such as the character’s stylized purple hair and heavy eyeliner. With even small details like a mole on the character’s face being kept intact, the player nails the design of the Overwatch hero and makes great use of Cyberpunk 2077’s character creator.
Sombra’s backstory and abilities make her a natural fit for Cyberpunk 2077‘s Night City setting. Not only does she look the part, but the character’s cybernetic enhancements that were detailed in her Overwatch backstory would be the norm for Cyberpunk 2077’s universe. With numerous evil corporations and conspiracies afoot in Cyberpunk 2077 as well, the Overwatch character’s goals of unraveling mysteries could remain the same. With plenty of technology to hack into, Night City would be an absolute paradise for Sombra.
It will be interesting to see if the creative Overwatch community makes any other heroes inside Cyberpunk 2077, as well as what they do beyond that. With the deep RPG mechanics of the game, it is entirely possible to roleplay as an Overwatch hero for the entirety of the game — having the same morals and making the same choices that they would if they were plucked into CD Projekt Red’s futuristic universe. While it is unclear if Karl_DRG will play the entire game as if they were Sombra, their design is certainly impressive, and it could easily serve as the inspiration for more created character ideas.
Hopefully, the Overwatch fan is not plagued by the fairly common and very NSFW Cyberpunk 2077 bug, as it would certainly have a negative impact on the look. As long as that unfortunate situation does not play out, this Sombra cosplay should be looking awesome throughout the entirety of Cyberpunk 2077’s runtime.
