Destiny 2: Xur Exotic Armor, Weapon, and Recommendations for December 11

It’s been a wild week for Bungie and its hit game, Destiny 2. At long last, Bungie finally released the highly anticipated next generation update for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S owners to take advantage of. This includes vastly improved load times, 4K 6o frames per second visual performance, and 120 FPS in the Crucible as well. All players can grab an enhanced version of the companion app as well, which now lets players pick up bounties, interact with the postmaster, and more.

In addition, Assistant Game Director Joe Blackburn provided players with a glimpse at what Bungie is planning in 2021 for Destiny 2. Season 13 is already shaping up to be a major one with two classic Destiny strikes, Fallen S.A.B.E.R. and Devil’s Lair, returning to the game. In addition, console players are getting DDoS protection and the Legendary and Master Lost Sector rotation will be updated to include Moon locations and new exotics. Better yet, season 14 will finally get the highly anticipated Armor Transmog feature and next year Bungie finally plans to introduce cross-play between all versions of the game.

Even with the studio preparing to go on holiday break, the flow of content isn’t stopping anytime soon. Before The Dawning arrives next week, players can find the exotic merchant Xur back inside the world of Destiny 2 for the next few days. Follow this guide for his location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of what he’s currently selling for the weekend of December 11, 2020.

This weekend, Xur is making it easy for players to find him as he’s back inside of The Tower hangar. Load into the default Tower location, not Drifter’s Annex location, and head to the left to descend into the Hanger.

After entering that part of the Tower, head left again past Dead Orbit and run up the stairs to a catwalk at the back. Xur will be overlooking the mountains in the distance.

While Xur’s role is essentially the same as it was prior to the Beyond Light expansion, the exotic merchant also has weekly quests that players can acquire to unlock an exotic cypher. Not only are these required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the new kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

Other than that, here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:

Vesper of Radius – Warlock chest armor

The currently troublesome Vesper of Radius is in stock this weekend. It is a subclass neutral exotic that enhances the Warlock’s Rift ability. Planetary Torrent releases an arc shockwave when the rift is first cast and recharges it faster if the player is surrounded by enemies. Even after being buffed last year, the item still isn’t quite top tier, though some players have managed to get the most out of it with a few tricks.

The roll is actually pretty good this weekend with a really high total of 63. Even if this gear isn’t a top tier Warlock exotic, it may still be worth checking out. Unfortunately, there’s a bug associated with this exotic gear and the item is disabled until Dec 17. A bit of an odd choice to be selling this week, but players may want to check it out in preparation of the upcoming hot fix.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +10
  • Resilience +15
  • Recovery +8
  • Discipline +12
  • Intellect +2
  • Strength +16

Gwisin Vest – Hunter Chest Armor

Spectral Blade Hunters should take note this week as the Gwisin Vest is again on sale. The main reason is due to its intrinsic perk called Roving Assassin. While the super is active, each spectral blade kill lets the player vanish and gain more super energy, making it last longer than normal.

Considering the benefits of this exotic gear, it is one of the go to armor pieces for Spectral Blades and is definitely worth owning.

Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +14
  • Resilience +3
  • Recovery +16
  • Discipline +2
  • Intellect +12
  • Strength +15

Armamentarium – Titan chest armor

The Armamentarium is back on sale this weekend after an extended time out of the spotlight. Its exotic perk And Another Thing gives players one additional grenade charge. Unlike other exotics, this armor is easy to pair with any subclass, though it does shine brighter with specific ones.

A popular tactic with this item is to run suppressor grenades which will grant players double the power to take supers away from their enemies. It may not be exciting or flashy compared so some of the other exotics in the game, but it remains easy to recommend considering how valuable two grenades can be in most situations.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +2
  • Resilience +28
  • Recovery +3
  • Discipline +10
  • Intellect +10
  • Strength +10

This electrically-charged bow fires an arrow that splits into three parts thanks to its perk, Split Electron. When the player aims down the sights and draws the bow all the way back, the arrow spread decreases. However, scoring a headshot will charge the next fired arrow to chain electricity between enemies close to each other. It’s generally a fun bow to use in any mode, though it really shines in PvE modes where the chain attacks have more opportunity to happen.

The bow becomes even better when players unlock the catalyst for the weapon from finishing any core Crucible, Strike, or Gambit activity. Added back in May of last year, unlocking the catalyst makes any final blow trigger the Lightning Rod perk. The bow becomes a supercharged behemoth, especially when clearing out groups of enemies. Absolutely worth picking up this week for all players.

Additional perks:

  • Polygonal Rifling
  • Alloy Magazines
  • Composite Stock

Here’s the complete rundown of Xur’s entire stock in Destiny 2 for December 11, 2020:

  • Vesper of Radius (Warlock Chest Armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Gwisin Vest (Hunter Chest Armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Armamentarium (Titan Chest Armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
  • Trinity Ghoul (Bow) – 29 Legendary Shards
  • Exotic Engram – 97 Legendary Shards/1 Exotic Cypher
  • A Question – Exotic Cypher Quest

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is now available PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
