Even with new games coming out and discussions in the gaming industry tackling other things, Fortnite trundles on. With the previously teased Master Chief content now entering the game, players will soon have more customization options than ever before.
The new fifth season of Fortnite has already shaken up the game’s formula in a few ways. One of these was the introduction of infinitely refreshing Challenges. Players no longer have to wait a full week for new objectives, although they do need to wait a full week for Epic and Legendary Challenges. These fill the role that regular Challenges filled before. One of the Epic Challenges this week is to find and destroy five mailboxes, so here’s a guide to help with that.
It’s a fair question, especially since Fortnite is all about shooting other players, not just smashing property (although that’s important too). The reason to find the mailboxes is to get as much XP as possible. Refreshing Challenges don’t provide as much XP as Weekly Challenges, so the Weekly ones should be completed as quickly as possible. All things considered, Challenges like this are a pretty way to get XP compared to other, more incremental methods.
Mailboxes can be found all over the map, especially in the more building-heavy sections. Players might have luck at Salty Towers or the industrial complex at Slurpy Swamp. However, the densest and most easily accessible cluster of mailboxes is at Pleasant Park. Drop there right away and there will be plenty of mailboxes to whack. It doesn’t matter if players destroy the larger mailboxes or the small ones outside many of the houses. Break them down and it’s another step towards the upgraded Mandalorian armor through XP.
The mailboxes can be smashed normally with the Pickaxe. There are no special methods, and the mailboxes aren’t close enough together to be taken out with an explosion. It’s not as exciting as fighting a mini-boss like Ruckus, but it’s simple and fast. At worst, watch out for other players landing in the same area to destroy mailboxes themselves. There probably aren’t enough to go around for everyone, so work quickly.
That’s about it. It may not be a particularly thematic challenge, like the new Halo and Walking Dead crossovers will no doubt bring, but it’s hard to complain about XP that comes in such an easy to earn package. Best to clean up this challenge quickly and move on to the next one.
