Genshin Impact Adding Pets Called ‘Mini Seelie’ | Game Rant

Developer miHoYo has been on a roll with Genshin Impact announcements this month. Both official and unofficial news pertaining to the game has been flowing through social media, and a recent official livestream has confirmed yet another surprise feature: pets.

Although Travelers won’t be given the option of befriending traditional pets in Genshin Impact, it seems that Version 1.2 of the game will bring about a new form of companion. In addition to traveling alongside Paimon, players will be able to equip and journey with a “Mini Seelie,” which is exactly what it sounds like.

Seelie, or “those green ghost things,” exist throughout the map of Teyvat. When approached, players must follow a seelie back to its “Seelie Garden” (a small statue), at which point the seelie will spawn treasure. As of now, seelie exist in a singular form across Genshin Impact, but as per the recent Version 1.2 Special Program, players can expect to meet several new varieties.

Apparently, Genshin Impact players will have to help a small seelie find treasure as part of an upcoming event in Version 1.2. The event, dubbed “Lost Riches,” will offer players many rewards from its corresponding Event Shop, but most notably, players will have the opportunity to befriend and equip their own small seelie. With a blue, red, and green variety available, Travelers will be able to equip these cute glowing friends, who then proceed to follow the player in-game. Players should note that the Event Shop images currently available confirm that only one of the three Mini Seelie can be claimed.

There’s no currently confirmed function for Mini Seelie, so players should expect them to exist as a mere cosmetic feature. That is, the Mini Seelie will likely just follow players around while they adventure. That being said, it wouldn’t be out of the question for miHoYo to implement some sort of bonus features related to Mini Seelie. After all, seelie are generally known to be guiding entities, like will o’ wisps; entities with the ability to help a wanderer. Though, as per their official descriptions, these mini-versions are sightseers rather than guides, they may be able to offer players some stat bonuses, or assistance in locating rewards, perhaps.

Given that Version 1.2 is already set to include entirely new Artifact Sets, weapons, characters, and even domains, it would not be surprising to see miHoYo toss in a few final surprises. These three little seelie, presumably named Dayflower, Rosé, and Curcuma, are already a fun and shocking addition to the game, not to mention, “Warming Seelie” are set to come with the Dragonspine region as well. Players can probably rest assured that future updates may expand upon these spirit-beings even further.

Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, PS4, and is currently in development for PS5 and Switch.
