Genshin Impact Game Awards Trailer | Game Rant

miHoYo’s breakout hit, Genshin Impact, ultimately walked away without any awards at The Game Awards on Thursday evening, despite gaining nominations for “Best RPG” and “Best Mobile Game.” Genshin Impact still put in an appearance however, with a brief trailer featuring some familiar faces going up against a boss.

Even though miHoYo came home empty-handed, the developer thanked players for Genshin Impact‘s success with premium currency, awarding 800 primogems to celebrate Genshin Impact‘s nominations. The trailer, which aired at the stream’s 3-hour and 38-minute mark, was presented without comment or vocals of any kind, and contained fare that should be familiar to dedicated players.

Opening with the heavenly bridge that serves as Genshin Impact‘s title screen, the trailer quickly cuts to show the male Traveler, Aether, running through Liyue’s grasses. Other characters—Sucrose, Keqing, and Qiqi—are shown running and gliding through Liyue as well. The four appear to assemble on a hilltop, and then descend to face a Pyro Regisvine. Amusingly, the party’s composition doesn’t include a Hydro Vision-user, who would be especially potent against the fire boss in Genshin Impact‘s system of elemental rock-paper scissors, but the foursome makes quick work of the blazing plant all the same.

As soon as Keqing’s Elemental Burst fells the plant, the trailer concludes. The spot is brief enough to miss in a blink, and while it shows off a fun fight and the abilities of four characters, it doesn’t give new and prospective players much to go on, nor does it have any big reveals for long-time players.

The brevity was likely due to time constraints in the schedule-packed award show. Fortunately miHoYo still gave players a great deal of fresh information about Genshin Impact version 1.2 in a special, Friday morning livestream.

The new update, due to hit players on December 23, will feature an entire new region of the map, new characters, and new artifact sets. Genshin Impact‘s next characters, Albedo and Ganyu, will arrive with The Chalk Prince and Dragon event. Unfortunately, while it seems unlikely that players will be able to earn Albedo or Ganyu for free, as they did with Fischl in the Unreconciled Stars event, players will still be able to earn new equipment, primogems, and another Crown of Sagehood.

If Genshin Impact‘s Game Awards trailer inspired viewers to take up arms in the game’s magical world of Teyvat, the fight shown isn’t a terribly difficult one to complete, especially at lower world levels. That said, players who are having trouble finding and fighting the Pyro Regisvine in Genshin Impact should have no problem after consulting a guide.

Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, PS4, and currently in development for PS5 and Switch.
