The Playing for Change Foundation operates under the belief that the language of art and music transcends cultural differences, and has the power to drive positive change in every corner of the world. It emerged from the Playing for Change movement started by Mark Johnson and Whitney Kroenke in 2002 and was officially established as a 501(c)3 non-profit in 2007, operates internationally in 11 economically disadvantaged countries. The foundation now operates educational music programs for youth in 15 impoverished communities, which each serves anywhere from 50 to 900 children at a time.
Last year, PFCF received the Polar Music Prize in recognition of the positive impact it had on its students and their communities. Playing For Change seeks not just to bring people together through the love of music, but also seeks to meet the essential needs of the communities it serves through the provision of emergency supplies and care, as well as humanitarian support. Without a doubt, the gaming community would not be the same without music and arts teachers fostering creativity in future musicians and artists, and GameRant recognizes the hard work being done here to make sure the next generation has developed their artistic voices.
