The newest installment in the Monster Hunter series was announced just this past September, showing off the game’s new Palamute and Wire Bug features. Monster Hunter Rise‘s reveal immediately grabbed the attention of fans, who noticed how impressive the game looked running on Nintendo Switch hardware, as the series tends to feature vibrant, jam-packed environments, in addition to its iconic and unique monsters.

During The Game Awards 2020, host Geoff Keighley presented viewers with a brief look at Monster Hunter Rise in the form of a brand new, world premiere trailer. An extended trailer was uploaded to YouTube and showed off a variety of new footage, but most importantly, it showed off and confirmed both new and returning monsters, focusing on how they have been mysteriously rampaging and attacking the game’s Kamura Village.

This latest trailer for The Game Awards 2020 shows off the lively new Kamura Village, with its many shops, merchants, and Palicoes alike, including a shot of the player character riding their Palamute companion through the vibrant village. The trailer shows off a jungle, some ruins, and a cavern environment, and continues to show off some of Monster Hunter Rise‘s featured monsters, like the returning Great Wroggi and Royal Ludroth, and the new Bishaten. The new trailer also focuses on the game’s story, as the Kamura Village elder, Fugen, explains that huge packs of monsters have been attacking the village. Finally, the trailer finishes with a shot of the brand new, menacing Magnamalo, and closes with the announcement of a limited-time demo coming in January of 2021.

It seems that Capcom is eager to share as much of the game as it can with Monster Hunter fans, as Monster Hunter Rise has seen a plethora of trailers recently focusing on all kinds of features, such as different gear for players’ Palamute companions. Aside from showing off the intriguing monsters, the trailer for The Game Awards 2020 has given Monster Hunter fans a bit of a tease as to what they can expect when it comes to the game’s story.

While taking on hoards of rampaging monsters should please Switch fans who missed out on Monster Hunter World, taking down the game’s devilish Magnamalo is shaping up to seem like perhaps an even bigger feat to accomplish. It will be interesting to see how this mysterious storyline shapes up when Monster Hunter Rise releases next March.

Monster Hunter Rise will be available on March 26, 2021 for Nintendo Switch.
