One of the most challenging things in Respawn Entertainment’s popular battle royale Apex Legends is ascending within the game’s Ranked Mode. Players earn Ranked Points (RP) through playing the mode by killing other players, assisting their teammates, and surviving longer than others within the lobby, however, at higher ranks it costs RP to enter into the game. While this mode has been the source of strife for those that wish to take their competition to the next level, it appears that one player has set a new standard for what one can accomplish.
Former Apex Legends pro Lou has achieved a new record by accumulating 100k RP, making him the current highest ranked Apex Predator in the world. This feat is made even more impressive when one considers that it was accomplished within a single split. The split occurs about halfway through the game’s Season, changing the Ranked map of choice and giving players a soft reset to their progress.
Lou took to Twitter to celebrate this major accomplishment, thanking his family and supporters that have seen him through this endeavor. Accompanied by the celebratory tweet, Lou included a screenshot of the game, showing the #1 Apex Predator icon above Wraith, as well as his 100,081 RP.
While 100k RP is an achievement that very few Apex Legends players will ever see, the game has had some nasty issues recently that have caused that dream to be even farther away. A bug was discovered in-game that would cause ranked players to be mismatched with players of a higher rank than themselves. Since Apex Legends doesn’t allow players of different ranks to play with each other at various intervals, these players were then booted from the game and served a punishment of lost RP for “abandoning the match.” Respawn Entertainment has since addressed this issue, and has sent those players affected by it some free Apex Packs.
This type of game-affecting bug isn’t an isolated incident, unfortunately. Over the past couple of seasons, Apex Legends has become inundated with issues both in and out of game. Perhaps one of the most egregious examples of this was found in the Season 7 battle pass. Players discovered that their progress was being reset on their battle pass after Respawn introduced a new system at the start of the season. And while the developer went on to quickly resolve the problem and issue an apology, there seems to be a feeling of frustration knowing that something like this could be holding them back from achieving something like what Lou has.
