Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Offers Refunds to Players Disappointed in PS4, Xbox Versions

Cyberpunk 2077 has finally launched, and while the game’s PC version has been heavily praised, performance on consoles has ranged from rough to abysmal. As such, CD Projekt Red has delivered an apology to players on last-gen consoles, offering a path to refunds for any players unhappy with their Cyberpunk 2077 purchase.

While Cyberpunk 2077 claimed huge PC sales records, the game’s numbers on consoles could be dipping a bit very soon. While the developer has patches coming in January and February and “would appreciate it if [players] give them a chance” and wait for the updates to arrive, the studio has shared that refunds will be available to those “not pleased” with the game on PS4 and Xbox One. CD Projekt Red then went on to outline the ways that players to get their money back.

For players to secure a digital refund, CD Projekt Red tells players to make use of “the refund system on PS4 and Xbox One.” While Sony has been notoriously picky with refunds for PlayStation Store purchases, the company has made an exception for Cyberpunk 2077. Boxed versions are a bit more complicated, however, as players will need to head to a separate website if the place they initially bought the game from does not allow for returns of opened physical copies.

The website in question is helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com, and the CD Projekt Red team promises to do its best to help players return their physical copies and get their money back. Disappointed Cyberpunk 2077 players will need to decide if they want to return the game soon, however, as the website will only be functional for the next week. Players have until December 21 to seek CD Projekt Red’s help on a refund, with physical copies kept after this date likely unable to be returned.

With CD Projekt Red admitting in the post that the patches will not improve the game’s visuals, players particularly frustrated in Cyberpunk 2077’s performance may want to give the refund a look. For those more concerned with bugs, fixes seem to be on the way very soon, with the game’s developers at least being transparent about when the updates will arrive. While it is undeniably frustrating that there is no hope for a polished game on PS4 and Xbox One in terms of visuals, at least Cyberpunk 2077’s many bugs will be getting removed.

With Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red’s stock dropping 29% following the game’s console problems, it makes sense that the company would try to rectify the situation. Players now need to decide if they trust CD Projekt Red to improve the game past Christmas or if they want their money back now.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, and later on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
