It’s natural for voice actors to appear in several different creative works other than what they ended up famous for. It’s how they make money, after all. However, it gets interesting when several voice actors from one property suddenly appear together in another creative work. This situation seems to have happened with Cyberpunk 2077 and Apex Legends, with several Apex Legends characters lending their voices to the former title.
Fans of both games have discovered that several characters in Cyberpunk 2077 take their voice from Apex Legends actors. As of this writing, at least three actors have confirmed that their voices appear in Cyberpunk 2077 and that they voice multiple characters, be they major or minor. These actors include Fryda Wolf, who voices Apex Legends‘ Loba. Johnny Yong, who voices Crypto, and Nicolas Roye, who voices Octane.
Wolf, Yong, and Roye all confirmed their involvement with Cyberpunk 2077 on Twitter. Wolf states that she voices Carol along with some other characters in the game, including “some ‘Latina accented’ randos and a super shrill stalker fangirl.” Yong claims that he plays multiple characters as well. He didn’t state any major character roles, but fans have indeed found him voicing minor parts. As for Roye, he congratulated Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red on Cyberpunk 2077‘s release, stating that he had fun playing a few minor characters.
Since fans have already discovered three Apex Legends characters in Cyberpunk 2077, they’re assuming that they’re more they probably haven’t found yet, which seems likely. Cyberpunk 2077’s size is huge, and with three Apex Legends already discovered, there’s no reason why there can’t be more. On top of that, Wolf claimed voice actors never know if all the characters they record make into the project they’re working on. So there are probably more characters running around with the voices of the three confirmed actors that are waiting to be discovered.
With so many voice actors from Apex appearing in Cyberpunk 2077, it’s a wonder no one’s found an Easter egg for the game yet. Cyberpunk certainly isn’t shy about featuring them. Players have currently discovered at least a dozen Cyberpunk 2077 Easter eggs so far, including one for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, The Office, Demolition Man, and of course, The Witcher. Maybe fans will discover an Apex one while they’re hunting down more voice actors. Cyberpunk only just launched, so fans probably haven’t stumbled upon everything it has to offer just yet.
Cyberpunk 2077 is on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions set for 2021.
