Microsoft May Be Releasing an Xbox Game Pass Family Plan

Players that have managed to secure an Xbox Series S or Series X since their launch last month have likely been enjoying the Xbox Game Pass service. The base model of the monthly subscription gives players access to a wide variety of titles on their Xbox console of choice, with an Ultimate tier that gives players a wealth of additional perks such as playing games remotely via xCloud. And while this offering has been celebrated by many, it seems that Xbox may be working on a plan that will make the proposition even more desirable.

Perhaps one of the few things missing from the Xbox Game Pass service is a family plan option. A family plan would essentially allow players to share their Game Pass library with three or more players. This would likely cost more than the current $15 charged for Game Pass Ultimate, but when divided amongst the amount of players partaking would be cheaper. This would also allow those users who own multiple Xbox consoles to have access to Game Pass on all systems they own.

One Twitter user named Jeff Binns posed the question of Xbox developing a family plan to Xbox boss Phil Spencer. Spencer replied saying that it is something the team at Xbox would like to implement. He agreed that the inclusion of some sort of family plan for households that own multiple consoles would be beneficial, and thanked Binns for his feedback.

The last year has seen tremendous growth for the Xbox Game Pass service. Xbox has included multiple big budget games such as Doom Eternal and Control, and has promised more exciting titles such as Skyrim and the Yakuza Remastered Collection in the near future. Not only that, but Game Pass will also soon be seeing the release of its first major DLC expansion included with the subscription in Gears 5: Hivebusters.

While the games offering for Xbox Game Pass has continued to get better and better, Xbox also has plans to continue improving the subscription as a whole. Microsoft recently confirmed that players can expect xCloud support to expand from Android devices to iOS and PC in the spring of 2021. It then went on to state that will also be available in more countries including Japan, Mexico, and Australia around this time as well. It seems that Xbox has a dedicated vision to truly make its Game Pass the absolute best deal in gaming.
