Overwatch fans have recently been going above and beyond with skin concepts, and the latest mockup of a Mercy skin is no exception. Donning the angelic healer in an outfit fitting of Cupid, the Valentine’s Day-themed Mercy skin is sure to steal the hearts of Overwatch fans.
While Mercy has received some incredible skins in the past, fans of the support character would certainly like to see her get even more love in the cosmetic department. If artist and Overwatch fan Dana Herberg had her way, however, Mercy would also be dishing out plenty of love herself. The creator of the excellent “Lovebringer” Mercy skin concept posted the full design to Twitter, with the outfit looking incredible and fitting perfectly into Overwatch’s universe.
While Mercy already had a weekly challenge at the end of 2019 with her special Dr. Ziegler skin, Herberg believes it has been long enough since the character was given a bonus design. It is hard to argue with the concept maker’s logic, as Blizzard should keep this look in mind if it ever decides “to do a Valentine’s Weekly Challenge.” Giving Mercy stylized pink hair as well as some pointed elvish ears, the alternate look would be a great addition if Blizzard ever embraced the holiday.
While shades of Mercy’s successful breast cancer skin can be seen in the concept, the skin is more than different enough from the Pink skin and is deserving of appreciation. The gold accents on the outfit work well to highlight features like Mercy’s heart halo, and the small pieces of black lace give the skin an extra touch of detail. With Mercy being given pink eyes and wings, as well as seeing flowers tied onto parts of the outfit, the concept truly is a perfect skin for Valentine’s Day.
However, concept artist Dana Herberg even posted redesigns for Mercy’s Caduceus staff alongside emblems and sprays, something not seen in many other Overwatch skin concepts. Mercy’s staff boasts the same pink and gold theme from the main skin, though it sees a neon pink heart at the end. Her weapon adopts the same theme, though a special touch sees it firing heart projectiles at the hero’s foes. An adorable pink dove spray can be seen alongside a heart sticker and an envelope from Mercy, with the player icon perfectly capturing the skin’s design.
Any big fan of Mercy should be happy with this look, as it offers the full package when it comes to Overwatch skins. With special details and a themed design that could still work all-year round, “Lovebringer” Mercy is easily one of the best Overwatch fan concepts released thus far.
Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
