During the course of the story, Cyberpunk 2077 players are asked to check up on their next-door neighbor, Barry, on behalf of his former colleagues with the NCPD. Gamers who want to save his life will have to give more time and attention to this job.
In “Happy Together,” Officers Mendez and Petrova ask the player character to speak with Barry concerning the loss of his friend, Andrew. While Cyberpunk 2077 has its share of fun tasks, this job is more emotional. If gamers encourage Barry to talk more about his old friend, and visit Andrew’s memorial, or “niche,” they’ll have the opportunity to save Barry’s life. However, if players don’t realize they have to wait for Barry to answer the door, the job will end violently.
Once the Cyberpunk 2077 job is started, players should make their way to Barry’s apartment, and knock on his door. He won’t open for the player character, V, at first, so the player will need to open the main menu and skip time ahead for three hours. Now when the player knocks on the door, Barry will let V in to talk. When speaking with Barry, players must choose the optional, blue dialogue choices in order to ask how Andrew died and to compare the old friend to a grandfather figure.
Barry will tell V about the niche he set up for Andrew, at which point an “optional” objective will be displayed, directing the player to visit the memorial. If the player wishes to earn the happy ending to the job, this objective is not optional. At the niche, located at the North Oak Columbarium, V discovers the truth about Andrew, which players will need to communicate when reporting back to Mendez and Petrova.
After the player tells Mendez and Petrova what they’ve learned about Barry’s situation, they will be directed to accompany them while they confront their former colleague. Listen as Mendez opens up to Barry, and eventually the door will open too. Barry will welcome his former colleagues inside, and the job will be completed.
Players may experience bugs throughout Cyberpunk 2077, and this job may be no exception. Some report that they aren’t alerted to the optional quest in the first place, while others aren’t notified about visiting Andrew’s niche. “Happy Together” is started once players complete the first main job, “Playing for Time,” so players should keep an eye on their log, and follow the steps to save Barry’s life.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia and Xbox One, and on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2021.
