Pokemon GO Jessie and James Current Lineups (December 2020)

The Secrets of the Jungle crossover event has arrived in Pokemon GO and that means that Jessie and James are back to cause more problems for trainers in the mobile AR game. The iconic Team Rocket duo are once again floating around in their Meowth-shaped hot air balloon and tempting trainers with some exciting shadow encounter rewards if they are defeated.

In addition to the Shadow Pokemon who are up for grabs if trainers defeat the pair, players also have a chance to secure a shiny Celebi encounter if they can finish the Distracted by Something Shiny Special Research which requires defeating Jessie or James in Pokemon GO four times.

In order to achieve that goal, players are first going to need to know how to take down the pair, once they find and challenge Jessie and James. Luckily, the pair don’t have very challenging rosters this time around, so as long as players stick to the correct counter types these fights should both be a breeze. Things are made even easier by the fact that Jessie and James each only have one possible Pokemon in each of the three lineup spots, so there’s no guessing about what they’ll be bringing to the fight.

Take a close look at these lineups and be sure to put together a roster of your own that is built to exploit all of the weaknesses on display here…

Pokemon 1 – Scyther

Pokemon 2 – Ekans

Pokemon 3 – Stantler

Encounter Reward – Shadow Scyther

Pokemon 1 – Pinsir

Pokemon 2 – Koffing

Pokemon 3 – Grimer

Encounter Reward – Shadow Pinsir

Jessie and James are always a popular feature in the game and seeing the pair with dialogue animations for the Special Research is an exciting addition. As players head out to repeatedly battle the duo in the coming weeks, be sure to keep an eye out for the Meowth-shaped hot air balloon. Players who are having trouble securing enough encounters to complete the Special Research can also rely on increased Jessie and James appearances on Christmas day (December 25) from 8am to 10pm local time.

As trainers continue working through these amazing events and enjoying the early days of the GO Beyond update, they may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters and completing their Pokedex is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
