Pokemon GO has received numerous updates during December that added more content to the game both permanently and for a limited time. There was the Kalos Region update that featured the debut of various pokemon from the sixth Generation into the game. Even though December is halfway over, there will be more events coming to Pokemon GO.
To close out 2020, Pokemon GO will have a Holiday event starring various ice-themed pokemon that fit the holiday season. It will feature costumed Pokemon, a new Ice-type Pokemon making its debut in the game, an event-exclusive research event, and other winter-themed avatar items. On top of that, Pokemon GO players will be receiving multiple bonuses during the Holiday event.
Throughout the Holiday event, players will receive the bonuses at different dates and times. Starting Tuesday, December 22 at 8:00 a.m. local time, players will be able to open more daily gifts in Pokemon GO and carry more gifts in their item bag. The total number of gifts that can be opened is 45. In the days after December 22, players will receive consecutive bonuses at different periods of time.
From December 22 to December 23, players will gain double Raid experience points. Starting December 24, players can receive Catch Candy until December 25, more Star Pierce duration from Saturday to Sunday, and increased Lucky Egg time duration from Monday to Tuesday. The last bonus concludes at the end of the month with Catch Stardust from December 30 through December 31.
As with months past, Pokemon GO has had several new events in December already. The legendary Pokemon Kyurem returned as a five-star raid boss for the game, and there were five new Pokemon spotlight encounters. Players can encounter either the Water-type Lapras or Unovan Fire-type Darumaka for Research breakthrough encounters. Not to mention the currently ongoing Pokemon GO Secrets of the Jungle event, through which players have the chance to catch a shiny, pink Celebi among other activities.
Players got to see more of Team Rocket, whether it was Jessie and James or Team GO Rocket grunts. They could even challenge the Team Go Rocket leader Arlo as a boss for December. Jessie and James starred in the Secrets of the Jungle event as research guides instead of Professor Willow. There was also the December Community Day weekend event, where players could complete special research tasks and catch rare Pokemon from past Community Day events.
With 2020 nearly over, players can look forward to more fun in the upcoming 2020 Holiday Pokemon GO event, as well as the rest of December. Here are the full list of bonuses players can expect during the event:
