The Witcher Fan Art Imagines Geralt of Rivia in Cyberpunk 2077

Since the recent launch of Cyberpunk 2077, it’s been difficult to talk about the game without also mentioning The Witcher 3 in the same breath as people compare the two most recent major titles from CD Projekt Red. However, some fans have been taking this connection and using it as inspiration for to create art of characters like Geralt and V in ways that cross the two drastically different universes into each other.

An illustrator for Tencent who goes by the name RX on ArtStation has recently shared a set of art pieces that reimagine Geralt in Cyberpunk 2077, fully equipped with mods and his own personalized weapons. The stunning illustration dives deep to not just show what a cybernetic Geralt might look like, but goes the extra mile to show exactly how he might fight in Night City with his own iconic style of combat.

RX’s depiction of Geralt includes a number of connected pieces, starting with an iconic recreation of some of Cyberpunk 2077‘s key art showing the Witcher protagonist leaning against a motorcycle. Further images in the set also show that the motorcycle Geralt is leaning against is really the Night City version of Roach, although it might not look much like the horse at first glance. More illustrations continue on to depict how Geralt’s weapons and abilities might be found in Cyberpunk 2077, such as duel pistols for fighting humans and cyborgs separately, as well as mods to imitate the Witcher senses.

This one set isn’t even the full extent of what RX has drawn while crossing over The Witcher with Cyberpunk 2077, with other illustration sets including depictions of Ciri, Yennifer, and Triss. None of the other depictions go into as much detail as the Geralt set does, but they do still include different ways that the characters could keep their iconic combat styles while blending into the atmosphere in Night City. Ciri with a mantis blade is an especially interesting design, as it works so well with the way that she fought in the brief moments the player controlled her in The Witcher 3.

The art itself is all rather striking, obviously a necessity for RX’s work as an illustrator at Tencent. However, this set of Geralt fan art in Cyberpunk 2077 really goes above and beyond for something that the artist must have chosen to create in their own free time. This project must have been a huge undertaking, and it’s likely going to get fans excited for the idea of seeing Geralt make some sort of appearance in CD Projekt Red’s latest title.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox Series X, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions planned to release in 2021.
