Players can use mods to alter their Mantis Blades in Cyberpunk 2077 in a variety of different ways. For instance, it is possible to change the damage type of this powerful Cyberware with the use of mods, and indeed that can make them more useful in certain situations. For those Cyberpunk 2077 players that are particularly interested in making their Mantis Blades deal Thermal damage, this guide will detail exactly where to get the relevant mod.
Unlike the other damage-altering Mantis Blade mods, such as the Blade Electrical Damage mod in Cyberpunk 2077, the Blade Thermal Damage mod is not purchased outright from a Ripperdoc. However, players can buy a Crafting Spec from one of these NPCs and then create the mod for themselves. More specifically, Cassius Ryder in Watson (Northside) will occasionally sell the Crafting Spec: Blade Thermal Damage, and the map below highlights this character’s precise position.
To emphasize, Ryder does not sell the Blade Thermal Damage mod itself, and it will thus not appear as an available arm slot mod when interacting with him. Instead Cyberpunk 2077 players will need to move over to the Trade tab in order to find the Crafting Spec: Blade Thermal Damage. That said, this schematic does not always appear when trading with the Ripperdoc, and players that do not see it should simply wait a fully day in-game, check his inventory again, and repeat this process until the blueprint appears.
Once a player has gotten their hands on the Crafting Spec: Blade Thermal Damage, they can then create the mod by combining 15 uncommon item components and 15 rare item components in Cyberpunk 2077. However, they will need to have the True Craftsman perk before they can put the mod together, and that requires Level 5 Technical Ability. Fortunately, reaching this level and unlocking True Craftsman does not require a major investment, but these prerequisites will prevent some players from being able to craft the mod straightaway.
To note, there is indication that the Blade Thermal Damage mod can also be looted during Cyberpunk 2077‘s The Pickup mission, which occurs fairly early in the game. Most players that are reading this guide will have already completed that mission, though, and they will not be able to go back and loot the mod. This means that crafting the mod will be the best way for a majority of fans to obtain it, and they should be able to do that quite easily by following the instructions provided in this guide.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions coming in 2021.
