Star Wars: Squadrons Update Adds Free Outfits | Game Rant

EA announces that new cosmetic outfits are coming to Star Wars: Squadrons for players to unlock for their collection. Available through January 10, the two skins are unlockable as a thank you for the Star Wars: Squadrons gaming community.

Star Wars: Squadrons takes players into the universe of intense space battles fought between the Galactic Empire and New Republic. While the game utilizes the first-person perspective, it hosts a myriad of unlockable ranks and rewards to customize player avatars. Despite having a small scope, the game managed to subvert expectations with its thrilling dogfighting and immersive visuals.

Originally, it seemed as though Star Wars Squadrons was not going to receive any post-launch content. Fortunately for fans, this was not the case. The announcement of two skins, the Hoth Pilot and Imperial Executioner, is the latest in DLC the game has received. Included are the iconic helmets, flight suits, and gloves for both the New Republic and Galactic Empire pilots.

All players need to do to unlock these items is login to Star Wars: Squadrons sometime before January 10. However, aspiring pilots will need to own the impressive Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order or Star Wars Battlefront 1 or 2 to access this new content. As a celebration of the Star Wars community, it makes sense that this post-launch is aiming for fans of EA’s entries to the franchise.

New content updates to Star Wars: Squadrons are a pleasant surprise for fans of the entry, no matter how small. The game, while niche, has a fanbase dedicated to the strategic team-based combat and modes for ace pilots. In addition, the cosmetic items look great and are easy enough to claim, so this should be good reason for current players to hop back in for some blasting.

While expectations for Star Wars: Squadrons post-launch were never going to be high, some could view this update as a bare minimum for the entry. Not only that, but it comes at a cost seeing as that players must own one of EA’s other Star Wars games to claim these skins. It is unlikely that anyone will purchase either of those other games, if they have not already, just to grab some cosmetic DLC. EA has ended support for Battlefront 2 as well, so this update could be frustrating to those 50,000 fans who want more updates. That said, more content for Star Wars: Squadrons may entice unsure players to hop in for some space battling.

Star Wars: Squadrons is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
