2020 has been a tremendous year for Xbox. With the release of the Xbox Series X/S, along a number of first-party titles revealed for the systems, Xbox has achieved a great deal of success in such a short amount of time. Though, the gaming conglomerate has one final surprise for fans to close out the year of 2020.
Obviously, the launch of the Xbox Series X/S sent massive ripples through not just the gaming community, but world commerce in general. Before the console even launched, the Xbox Series X/S had sold out almost immediately at an Australian retail outlet and countless other locations throughout the world. Now, to further the celebrate the launch of the console, Xbox has gone ahead and officially broken a world record.
Using high-powered projectors, Xbox managed to rig a gaming set-up to the point where one player actually managed to play Destiny 2: Beyond Light on the side of Copper Mountain in Colorado and it is a wonder to behold, to say the least. The projectors themselves are powered by a combined total of over 120,000 lumens and the shocking thing is, based on what was shown in the video, the game runs surprisingly well.
This event, rightfully so, broke the Guinness World Record for the largest projected video game display. In total, the projection stretched the length of 180.15 ft and the width of 105.97 ft for a total area of 19,090 square feet. That is an incredibly impressive feat and a title that should be well protected for a number of years.
It’s amazing what Xbox has done in order to celebrate its newest console generation. Back when the PS5 launched, Sony did a number of public events as a way of celebrating the launch of the PS5, such as having the PlayStation symbols appearing in various cities and different parts of the world. Although, what Xbox has managed to accomplish today is nothing short of breathtaking.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Xbox following the Xbox Series X/S launch. In addition to the consoles themselves, a wide variety of games are set to release for the console in the coming months, with titles like Halo Infinite leading the way. With any luck, Xbox will continue to outdo itself in celebrating the Xbox Series X/S and give players from around the world a lot more to look forward to.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now for PC, PS5, Stadia, and Xbox Series X/S.
