Genshin Impact Unveils Frostbearing Tree Rewards | Game Rant

Earlier today, MiHoYo released details surrounding the Genshin Impact Version 1.2 update, including a new region, Domain, and rewards that can be earned by offering a new item to the Frostbearing Tree.

The 1.2 update coming to Genshin Impact will arrive shortly on December 23rd, introducing a brand new region called Dragonspine. Dragonspine is a cluster of snowy mountains on the south-east edge of Mondstadt, and many of the monsters in the area will be geared around the Cryo element. Likewise, Genshin Impact will introduce a sub-zero climate mechanic, where players accumulate the Sheer Cold stat, drawing back to the argument that Genshin Impact is heavily inspired by Breath of the Wild.

Another new gameplay element coming in the 1.2 update is a new resource, Crimson Agate. Crimson Agate is a bright red, glowing crystal that can be found around Dragonspine and can be offered to the Frostbearing Tree, a magical tree that is unique to the new region. By offering the Crimson Agate crystals to the Frostbearing Tree, players can earn a slew of rewards, including leveling materials and Mora as well as Acquaint and Intertwined Fates.

A number of rarer rewards can be obtained by offering Crimson Agate to the Frostbearing Tree, which levels similarly to offering Oculi to the Statues of the Seven. At Level 4, players can earn the blueprints for a new gadget that will be introduced to Genshin Impact with 1.2, called the Warming Bottle. This item will be important to exploration around Dragonspine. Due to the sub-zero climate, players will need to find ways to keep warm, and the Warming Bottle emits heat for a short period of time to eliminate the Sheer Cold stat.

At Level 10, players will receive the diagram of a new catalyst weapon introduced with the 1.2 update to Genshin Impact. The Frostbearer is a strong four-star catalyst, similar to the Eye of Perception that can be obtained through Wishing on the gacha. Its base ATK is 42 and offers a bonus effect increase of 9% damage to the ATK stat (at first level). Frostbearer’s special skill deals extra damage to enemies affected by Cryo, so it’ll be a great weapon to use with a Cyro catalyst character.

Unfortunately, there aren’t any Cryo Vision heroes that wield a catalyst currently, nor are there any on the list of upcoming characters, such as the bow-wielding Ganyu or the sword-wielding Ayaka.

Additionally, once the Frostbearing Tree has reached Level 8, travelers will unlock Crimson Wish, which offers a number of new quests that can be completed to earn more Crimson Agate. Since the amount of Crimson Agate around Dragonspine is limited, participating in Crimson Wish will be important to leveling the Frostbearing Tree and earning its rare rewards.

Genshin Impact is available now on mobile devices, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for PS5, and Switch.
