Overwatch May Be Teasing A New Hero Named Brit | Game Rant

There are numerous heroes that have appeared in concept art predating the release of Overwatch. Some of these characters eventually made it into the game, but there are plenty that still have not and may not ever. One hero, however, has recently popped up on a new map, leading many to believe they will soon become a playable character.

With Overwatch 2 on the horizon, players weren’t expecting any notable content updates, but Blizzard made the surprise announcement that a new map is being added to the game. This new Deathmatch map, Kanezake, is set in Japan and was revealed during a small development update by Jeff Kaplan. Players can check it out now in the game’s PTR. Inside the map, they’ll encounter everything from nightclubs to a cat cafe, but they may also spot a billboard with a familiar-looking character.

Brit, a Mech pilot, was a hero created for the pitch meeting for Overwatch, with her abilities and design resembling another well-known Mech pilot in the game’s universe. Aside from these details, not much else is known about her, but that may soon change. Her appearance in the new map coupled with the imminent release of the sequel next year suggests she may be one of the first new characters to be added. She may even be part of the Overwatch 2 announcements at BlizzCon 2020, as Blizzard has promised the game will be a big part of the event. The convention will be held next February and is entirely online.

For now, players can enjoy this year’s Winter Wonderland event which is currently live. As with past years, the holiday event offers players new cosmetics and game modes, but a new brawl was introduced this year. The Winter Brawl, titled Freezethaw Elimination, is basically an exaggerated version of the classic freeze tag game. It’s a 4v4 team mode where players will freeze instead of dying and one team wins when all members of the other team are frozen. Players can thaw their teammates, however, bringing them back into the fight. Returning events include Mei’s Snowball Offensive, Snowball Deathmatch, and Yeti Hunter.

Of course, an Overwatch event wouldn’t be complete without a myriad of new skins and there are some great Winter Wonderland 2020 skins for players to add to their collections. The newest holiday-themed Legendary skins include Penguin Mei, Ice Princess Moira, Conductor Reinhardt, Lumberjack Torbjorn, and Toybot Zenyatta. The event also includes three challenge week skins for players to earn simply by playing the game and stacking up wins. Those skins are Elf Junkrat, Gingerbread Ana, who looks like she’s been baking cookies in her holiday apron, and Frosty Roadhog, who is downright terrifying as the famous snowman.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
