Resident Evil Movie Reboot Art Hints at Important Scene from First Game

The Resident Evil movie reboot is in production, with the film expected to release in September of 2021. New details on the Resident Evil movie reboot have been trickling out since its announcement, including plenty of set photos, casting news, and more. The latest bit of information regarding the Resident Evil movie reboot gives horror fans an idea of what the zombies in the movie will look like, and seems to hint at a famous scene from the original Resident Evil game.

Applied Arts FX Studio has shown what a zombie will look like in the Resident Evil movie reboot. What fans have immediately noticed is that the zombie seems to resemble the first zombies players ever encounter in the Resident Evil franchise. While this could just be a coincidence, it could also be a good indication that the Resident Evil movie reboot will be looking to recreate one of the original game’s most famous scenes.

Shortly after the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team enters the Spencer Estate mansion, they encounter a zombie in a hallway. When they approach it, it’s bent over one of the dead Bravo Team members, having a meal. Players can hear the zombie’s teeth munching on their teammate’s flesh, but what’s even freakier is when the chewing sounds stop. Aware someone is standing behind him, the zombie slowly turns its head, making eye contact with the player character.

Who the zombie encounters depends entirely on which character players chose to play as, with the option of Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine. Both Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine have been confirmed for the Resident Evil movie reboot, so either one of them, or both, could be a part of this scene if the filmmakers decide to feature in the movie. Another character who plays an important role in this scene, Barry Burton, has yet to be cast for the Resident Evil movie reboot, however.

While players are free to fight the zombie right then and there, they can also decide to run away from it instead. If players run away from the zombie, it will follow them into the dining room area, and if they are playing as Jill Valentine, it will lead the zombie directly to Barry Burton. Barry, armed with a powerful magnum, is able to make quick work of the zombie, shooting its head off. It would be cool to see this moment play out on the big screen, but again, Barry has not been confirmed for the Resident Evil movie reboot to date.

And with most of the Resident Evil movie reboot set photos seemingly focusing on events from Resident Evil 2, it’s unclear how much the mansion from the original game will even be featured in the movie. More information about what exactly fans can expect from the Resident Evil movie reboot in terms of plot should come to light as we get closer its 2021 release date.

Resident Evil is expected to premiere September 9, 2021.
