The Witcher Celebrates ‘Witchmas’ With Set Photos of Jaskier

Official news from the set of The Witcher had been a little slow, with most of the information related to Netflix’ hit fantasy series coming from fan leaks or tabloid sources. However, it looks like the show’s social media team is finally ready to start sharing some of its secrets with fans of The Witcher.

Up until this point, The Witcher production team has been juggling a series of setbacks in its filming schedule, ranging from COVID-19 catching actors and crew members off guard to Henry Cavill suffering a minor injury. How these factors might affect the show’s release date in 2021 is still unknown.

Thus enter #Witchmas, a six-day spree of updates, sneak peeks, and gifts brought to fans by The Witcher’s official Twitter account, running from December 16 to 21. The Twitter account is known for its savvy use of prose and lore from The Witcher to share any updates on the show, this time polling fans on whether they’d rather have specific update or go for the Law of Surprise.

The surprise it has to offer for fans today is an entire set of photos of Jaskier, everyone’s favorite bard and Geralt’s best friend. Jaskier is played by English actor Joey Batey in the Netflix series, and in Season 1 he went on to become a fan-favorite character, not in small part thanks to the hit “Toss a Coin to your Witcher,” which is was composed by Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli but sung by Batey himself.

While Batey is looking fine in his bard threads, it’s not quite clear how the character’s fate will play out, as he and Geralt did not end up on the best of terms after the first season’s finale. “Toss a Coin to your Witcher” is incredibly catchy, so much so that even Elon Musk apparently had the song stuck in his head and tweeted it out several times throughout this year, even at Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams.

Five more days of Witchmas remain, so expect plenty of Witcher-related surprises over the coming days. There might even be a Season 2 trailer to wrap up the year, fans will just have to wait and see.

The Witcher Season 2 is coming to Netflix in 2021.
