A Resident Evil movie reboot is currently in production, with the film scheduled to premiere in September of 2021. Apart from the revelation of the movie’s cast and photos that were taken from the set, specific details about the film’s plot is still being kept under wraps. However, with everything that has been revealed so far, it appears that the upcoming reboot will be more faithful than the Resident Evil film franchise by Paul W.S. Anderson.
One of the most anticipated information that Resident Evil fans are probably wondering about is which enemies from the games will appear in the film. While zombies are sure to be present, here are other monsters from Resident Evil games that we want to see in the upcoming Resident Evil movie.
To the uninitiated, Crimson Head zombies were introduced in the remake of the first Resident Evil game. Although Crimson Heads were hugely popular among Resident Evil fans, they did not make any appearances in succeeding games. It is common knowledge among Resident Evil fans that the only way to kill a zombie is to either decimate its head or burn its entire body. In Resident Evil Remake, zombies will reanimate as Crimson Heads, making them more menacing than ever given that they can run after the player and attack them with their claws.
In the remake, the addition of Crimson Head zombies added another layer of fear in the game, given that players would not only need to conserve their ammo and health items but they now also need to think twice before killing a zombie, especially if they fail to shoot it in the head or burn it using kerosene. Like the game, adding Crimson Head zombies in the upcoming film would serve the same purpose by making zombies more complicated and threatening than ever.
The tyrants have become an important part of Resident Evil games ever since the launch of the first game. Usually, tyrants are the ultimate enemies in Resident Evil games, given their advanced intelligence and menacing abilities. Among the many tyrants in Resident Evil, Nemesis was the one that got the most spotlight in the Anderson films, given that he served as the main villain in Resident Evil Apocalypse. While fans would probably want to see a new iteration of Nemesis in the upcoming film, it would also be nice to see the tyrant from the original game and Mr. X from Resident Evil 2. Luckily for fans, this may just happen, given that photos taken from the movie set heavily suggest that it will cover the events of the first three Resident Evil games.
Another terrifying monster from the remake of the first Resident Evil game is Lisa Trevor. To those unfamiliar, Lisa is the daughter of the Spencer mansion’s architect, George Trevor, who was captured by the Umbrella Corporation and was used as a test subject for the development of the Progenitor virus. Interestingly enough, it appears that Lisa is all but confirmed in the Resident Evil movie reboot, after actress Marina Mazepa, who has been confirmed for the movie, posted a video of herself practicing a stunt mimicking Lisa’s moves. At the moment, Mazepa’s official role in the movie is still a mystery, but given the video that the actress posted, it is likely that she will be playing Lisa in the film.
One of the most terrifying and iconic monsters in the Resident Evil universe is the Hunter Alpha. Ever since their appearance in the first Resident Evil game, the Hunter Alpha has haunted players’ nightmares, given that they are one of the most difficult enemies in the game franchise. Apart from the Hunter Alpha, the Hunter Gamma, which has been revived in players’ consciousness after its appearance in RE3 Remake, should also be featured in the upcoming game.
Similar to Nemesis, Lickers was featured in Resident Evil Apocalypse, and it wouldn’t be unlikely to see their return in the upcoming movie reboot. After making its debut in Resident Evil 2, Lickers became one of the most terrifying and unique monsters in the Resident Evil franchise. Their slimy and creepy appearance, alongside their extremely long tounges that could pierce through just about anything, will make them tough enemies for the movie’s protagonists to beat. Not to mention, it would be nice if the movie recreates the iconic scene from Resident Evil 2 where a Licker almost gave players a heart attack after it jumped through a one-way mirror in the interrogation room.
Resident Evil will premiere in theaters in 2021.
