The 2020 holiday season has arrived and with it Epic Games’ popular Holiday Sale for the Epic Games Store. Even more popular than discounted games, though, are free games. As with last year, the Epic Games Store is bringing back its free game offerings. This year’s plan is 15 Days of Free Games, with the first two days already revealed. Also much like last year, it appears that the remaining free games left to be revealed have been leaked ahead of schedule.
The leak comes from Youtuber jovanmunja, who says they received a list but didn’t mention who or where from. Regardless, they claim that they held onto the list before revealing it so that they could do some verification. Unexpectedly, today’s game reveal, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, was, in fact, the second game on the leaked list. After receiving that apparent confirmation that the list could be legit, they decided to share it on their social media.
To be clear, this list may have been faked. Jovanmunja may have been tricked or could have been dishonest about the list’s origins. If what he says is true, the list has some credibility, though even then it may have been faked. As such, it’s best that Epic Games Store users approach this list with some amount of skepticism. After all, it’s not the first list to look reliable, and it wouldn’t be the first such Epic Games Store free games list to be debunked.
Two games are already released and confirmed on the list. Day 1 was Cities: Skylines and now day 2 is Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty. That leaves 13 days of games. The list is as follows: The Long Dark, Defense Grid 1, Alien: Isolation, Metro 2033, Tropico 5, Inside, Darkest Dungeon, My Time in Portia, Night in the Woods, Stranded Deep, Solitairica, Torchlight 2, and Jurassic World Evolution. That’s a solid line-up of games that are believable additions to the Epic Games Store.
With the list revealed, there are a couple of additional pieces of evidence to consider regarding this list’s trustworthiness. One, it’s been previously leaked that Darkest Dungeon is coming to the Epic Games Store. Two, Metro 2033 was removed from Xbox Game Pass for PC this past December. That could definitely hint at a forthcoming free release via the Epic Games Store.
All that’s left is to wait for the upcoming Epic Games Store free games to be revealed day by day to see if the leak is accurate. Remember, each game is available for just 24 hours and then it’s no longer free. Those who want to get all of the free games on the Epic Games Store will have to check back every single day between now and January 7.
The Epic Games Store Holiday Sale lasts through January 7.
