Many Star Wars fans have been engrossed in the weekly release of The Mandalorian Season 2 on Disney’s streaming service Disney+ over the last few months. The Season 2 finale officially went live on Friday, December 18, and introduced a number of things that are sure to leave audiences eager for The Mandalorian Season 3 in 2021. In the meantime, some have already jumped to add content from into games like Star Wars Battlefront 2 through mods. Spoilers ahead for the Season 2 finale.
Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin and his companion Grogu (revealed to be the true name of The Child/Baby Yoda) have become iconic members of the Star Wars universe in the short time since The Mandalorian began airing in late 2019. The duo headlined Fortnite Season 5, with a focus on bounty hunters, and fans have been modding Mando into multiple games, including Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
However, other major characters from the show have gotten fan attention as well. For example, on December 18, Nexus Mods user SiRME24 uploaded a mod adding The Mandalorian‘s take on Boba Fett into Star Wars Battlefront 2, EA’s first-person shooter released in 2017. A post-credit scene in the Season 2 finale revealed Boba Fett will get a spin-off show on Disney+ next year, and the Battlefront 2 overhaul mod includes his various appearances throughout The Mandalorian.
Much more exciting for fans of the show and the original three Star Wars movies will no doubt be another mod from Nexus Mods user dunno123. This adds the new look for surprise cameo character Luke Skywalker, as well as the introductory music played when he appears to save Mando and his friends from an army of droid Dark Troopers. This Star Wars Battlefront 2 mod is notable for how quickly it was put together, having been uploaded earlier today, December 19.
Modding communities often take the time to combine video games like Star Wars Battlefront 2, The Witcher 3, or Skyrim with other popular titles. For example, one Star Wars Battlefront 2 mod added Fall Guys and Among Us characters to the shooter earlier this month.
The fact that The Mandalorian showrunners kept the surprise appearance of Luke Skywalker, voiced by Mark Hamill, a secret throughout production and this season’s run is impressive given the prominence of online leaks. His appearance was undoubtedly going to drive a lot of fan projects like this Battlefront 2 mod, and similar things should appear going forward as Disney launches spin-off shows like an Ahsoka Tano series starring Rosario Dawson.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
