Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel Game in Development for Switch | Game Rant

Yu-Gi-Oh! fans have something to look forward to, as it seems that the franchise’s latest series is being adapted into a video game for the Switch. The news comes directly from Konami during Jump Festa 2021, where it revealed that the new game, set to be titled Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel will feature a different rule set than what old school fans might be used to.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel is based on the seventh anime series, Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS, and as such follows the characters and events of that show. This series has yet to be localized, so western audiences likely no next to nothing about it, but diehard fans may be more familiar with this incarnation of the popular trading card game.

Some of the highlights of the new gameplay in Rush Duels include the ability to normal summon as many monsters from the player’s hand as they see fit, a rule that should make for fast paced battles. Another notable change is that players can draw back up to five cards at the end of every turn rather than just drawing one as is typical in Yu-Gi-Oh!

There’s no word yet on whether or not the game will be coming to western audiences, but it seems likely that it won’t any time soon. That said, a trademark for the English version of the anime was filed earlier this year, so if that does end up going through and the anime is localized, it could be that the game will launch alongside it. Up to now, Rush Duels as a ruleset are unique to Japan, so this would mark the first time that they would be localized if it happened.
