Animal Crossing: New Horizons Player Creates In-Game Workout Video

For many, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been a saving grace this year, providing a much-needed deserted island escape during 2020. As the light-hearted life sim game released this past March, the game skyrocketed in popularity, even becoming one of Google’s most searched terms in 2020.

As continuous quarantine and lockdown orders have allowed many to indulge in their virtual lives in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players have had plenty of time to get creative on their islands and with their villagers. Some players have even resorted to making fully edited videos consisting only of content from the game, such as one who recently decided to create a fully-fledged workout video.

While one Animal Crossing: New Horizons player decided to spend 2 months making a 3-minute long in-game horror movie, another has decided to take a more upbeat approach to their Animal Crossing creativity. Reddit user coffeephilic decided to create a full in-game ’80s-styled workout video set to Cyndi Lauper’s 1983 hit song, “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.”

On Reddit, user coffeephilic explains that they recorded a decent amount of in-game footage and then edited it all together to make it flow well. Recently, Animal Crossing: New Horizons added several new character reactions for purchase at the in-game Nook Stop, including the “workout” reaction used in this video.

When players visit Harv’s Island in New Horizons, they are able to move the camera around freely, place their villagers all in the same room, decorate it how they want, and have their villagers all act however the player wants. User coffeephilic mentions that this is how they were able to get all of their villagers to start the “workout” reaction at the same time. Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” works especially well since it plays at 120 beats per minute, perfectly syncing up with the beat of the game’s “workout” reaction.

Anyone looking to see their favorite villagers like Sherb, Marshall, and Whitney dance their little hearts out to pumping ’80s music are sure to be thoroughly pleased by coffeephilic’s video. It’s safe to assume that the Reddit user’s video will inspire fellow Animal Crossing: New Horizons players, who seem to have boundless creativity.

As updates for the game keep just coming and winter is well underway in the Northern Hemisphere, players continue to have a lot of content to get creative with in New Horizons. Only time will tell what players will create next come the new year.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now for the Nintendo Switch.
