Now that a month has passed since the PS5 launched, those fortunate enough to have a console are enjoying some of the early features that Sony’s newest console has to offer. Unfortunately, PS5’s pre-order situation was so chaotic that the vast majority of players who wanted the console at launch were unable to secure one.
Even now, PS5 consoles are incredibly hard to secure online due to factors like COVID-19 and scalpers. However, one fortunate YouTuber was able to secure five PS5 consoles, making a funny, tongue-in-cheek video showcasing why that makes him better than those players without a PS5 console.
The video comes by way of the LoadingReadyRun YouTube channel, where channel co-founder Paul Saunders flaunts an over-the-top, lavish lifestyle alongside his five PS5 consoles. Saunders showcases the locations he puts his five PS5 consoles in and repeatedly demonstrates why owning five total PS5’s makes him better than you, who does not own a PS5. The video is clearly making light of the fact that no one truly needs to own an excess amount of next-generation consoles, as Paul repeatedly states the impractical things he can do with his five PS5 consoles. Though, considering PS5 pre-orders sold out completely in multiple territories, it’s impressive that Saunders even managed to gather five actual consoles at once at all.
In reality, the video is actually a long-running joke that Saunders began during the launch of the PS3, where he collected three PS3s. Saunders made a similar video back then, and once again continued the series by collecting four PS4s and making another video about them. Still, one can’t help but wonder how exactly Saunders came into possession of five actual PS5 consoles, considering they’ve been so difficult to secure. Though Saunders doesn’t disclose exactly how he came into possession of five PS5 consoles, it’s highly unlikely it had anything to do with PS5 scalpers.
Unfortunately, some people who are out of the loop regarding LoadingReadyRun and Saunder’s ongoing joke may be initially displeased about Saunders flaunting his consoles. Compounded with the fact that scalpers are selling PS5s for ridiculous prices only serves to add to people’s frustration surrounding the scarcity of the console. Tensions are no doubt running high for consumers who can’t secure a PS5 of their own, especially as the holiday season steadily approaches. Of course, after getting through the early portion of the video, it becomes abundantly clear that the video is meant as a joke and is in no way serious.
LoadingReadyRun’s video is just one of many internet video’s capitalizing on the next-generation craze that is sweeping the gaming industry. Recently, one user on Reddit posted a video of a PS5 put through an industrial shredder, which garnered huge attention on the platform. Naturally, LoadingReadyRun’s video is not nearly as upsetting as that one, as it’s really just a funny showcase of why excess isn’t all it’s cracked up to be in most cases.
The PS5 is available now.
