Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Easter Egg Hints At Classic Zombie Map’s Future Return

While fans of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies have been having lots of fun fighting off nussnackers in the Jingle Hells playlist, that does not mean that anticipation has dwindled for a new map. As such, players have been hunting for clues to potential DLC locations, and one Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War player believes they have found one.

As of now, all players know officially is that a new Zombies map will arrive in Season 2. However, players know plenty of info about the upcoming seasons of content due to a series of leaks. Supposedly, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies will see four more classic maps making a return. The maps in question are Shi No Numa, Der Riese, Kino Der Toten, and TranZit. However, one player believes another classic map may be coming as well.

While fans were quick to point out the Mall at the Pines map’s Back to the Future Easter egg, it turns out that there are some Call of Duty references hidden about the multiplayer map as well. Aside from keychains of Burger Town mascot Bubby, players can find some references on the arcade’s pinball machines. One machine references the campaign, while another boasts a design based on a Monkey Bomb – though the most interesting is easily the Der Eisendrache design.

Captured by Twitter user Elliot Dunn, the machine depicts the castle and dragons from the beloved Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 map. Featuring the map’s logo as well as silhouettes of Primis, the feel of the map is captured perfectly. Remembered fondly for its unique location, excellent elemental bow wonder weapons, and a powerful main quest Easter egg that let players share an emotional moment with Tank Dempsey, fans would surely love to see the map return.

It is interesting that this is the only map depicted on the machines, as Treyarch could have just as easily included one for other popular maps. The extra focus on Der Eiesendrache is worth noting, though it does not guarantee a remake of the beloved map. After all, the instrumental version of Origins Easter egg song Archangel is heard in the mall’s music shop, something that would open it up to a remaster as well based on this logic.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans will need to wait and see if Der Eisendrache is restored to its former glory in the new game. With multiple pieces of intel implying that the next map is likely to be an expansion of Shi No Numa, fans will be waiting some time before they know if this pinball machine is just an homage or something more meaningful.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
