Fan favourite is the last franchise OG to come to the Modern Warfare reboot.
Series veteran John “Soap” MacTavish is going to be showing his face in Call of Duty: Warzone soon.
That’s going by the ending of the on-going Modern Warfare storyline in the free-to-play battle royale game Warzone – as uploaded to YouTube by Geeky Pastimes – which features Soap speaking to moustache-wielding wonder-soldier Captain Price via radio after he and Task Force 141 disarm a nuclear warhead.
Soap says he is “half a click off the coast,” adding that “things are really heating up out here.” It’s possible that this is hinting at a brand new map for Warzone, but it’s also just a sign that the soldier is coming to the mode’s brand new map, Rebirth Island, which only launched on December 16.
Soap is the last member of the Modern Warfare OGs to join this rebooted version of the Call of Duty series. Prolific franchise data miner Charlie Intel reports that Soap will be receiving his own bundle of content, including weapons and a skin, at some point. There’s no release date just yet, but it is set to cost 2,400 COD Points.
Warzone launched back in March following 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot and has been a smash hit for publisher Activision. At the start of December, the firm revealed that the Call of Duty franchise had made $3 billion in just 12 months, an increase of 80% year-on-year. Furthermore, 200 million people had played its games, while unit sales were up 40%.
The battle royale mode has integrated with the recently-launched Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. This was initially set to take place alongside that game’s first season of content on December 10, but this was pushed back until December 16.
