Final Fantasy 7 Remake is undoubtedly one of 2020’s biggest games, but unlike other remakes, the game is still unfinished with more parts planned sometime in the future. Now to close the year, Final Fantasy 7 Remake‘s producer, Yoshinori Kitase, has given a tease of what to expect in the future of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Saga.
Speaking to Japanese publication Famitsu, Kitase talked about the success of the first part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and what’s in store for fans in 2021. Interestingly enough, Kitase revealed to Famitsu that “the new world of FFVII has only just begun,” teasing that the studio is excited for the future of the game’s story. At the moment, it remains unclear just how many parts Square Enix is planning for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. However, Kitase confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 is “progressing smoothly,” reassuring fans that more info about the succeeding parts of the remake will be revealed soon, likely next year.
This latest update from Square Enix couldn’t have come at a perfect time, especially since concerns about the progress of the second installment of Final Fantasy 7 Remake is making rounds online. Last July, game director Tetsuya Nomura revealed that the release of part 2 remains unclear, given that the studio is working hard to develop it in even better quality than part 1. Thankfully, fans can rest easy now that Square Enix appears to be happy with the development of the game, and hopefully, more information will be revealed early next year.
Meanwhile, Square Enix announced last month that it is releasing another soundtrack called Final Fantasy 7 Remake Original Soundtrack Plus. According to the studio, the new soundtrack would include four discs and feature songs from several scenes in the game that did not make the final cut in the original album. The new soundtrack just released several days ago, featuring a new illustration of Cloud by Tetsuya Nomura as the cover art.
For players interested to know more about what the new soundtrack entails, Square Enix, published a video to its official YouTube channel, previewing some of the songs featured in the album. All of the songs that players will hear in the video comes from the first disc of the soundtrack, and Square Enix also released a list of the entire album, which features a whopping total of 106 Final Fantasy 7 songs.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is out now for PS4, with a second installment currently in development.
