The Call of Duty: Warzone meta is constantly evolving, and with every change, professional player and loadout expert NICKMERCS has been there to highlight the best gun of the season. However, NICKMERCS has taken issue with just how popular the DMR 14 is becoming, as he believes that the weapon is hurting Call of Duty: Warzone.
In a recent video covering this specific Call of Duty: Warzone issue, NICKMERCS says that the game is “officially DMRzone.” The FaZe member goes on to add that “if you don’t have one, you’re gonna get bopped by one,” claiming that the weapon has taken over “the entire meta of Warzone.” With seemingly every Call of Duty: Warzone player that is in the know about the weapon’s power having the gun equipped, it is becoming impossible to avoid the weapon in matches of the battle royale game.
Plenty of Call of Duty: Warzone loadouts have been shared over the several months since the game first arrived, with the best weapons being nerfed often and new guns earning the top spot. As such, one would expect the “DMRzone” meta to come to an end soon, which would normally ease the concerns of NICKMERCS and other longtime players of the free-to-play Call of Duty title. However, NICKMERCS believes that the issue extends beyond the DMR 14.
The loadout expert expects a nerf for the weapon to come soon, but when it does, NICKMERCS feels that a new tactical rifle will instantly take its place. In his video, the player remarks that “everyone’s gonna jump over to the Type 63” when the nerf is carried out. According to NICKMERCS, the weapon is nearly identical to the DMR 14 — barring the downside of “a little more recoil.” He adds that none of the other Call of Duty: Warzone weapons are as viable as tactical rifles or the MAC-10 SMG.
There are a few potential routes that the developers can go in when it comes to balancing. Nerfing the MAC-10 and the entire tactical rifle category could prevent the potential future highlighted by NICKMERCS in his video, as the Type 63 would become an average weapon as opposed to swiftly taking the DMR 14’s position. The other solution is buffing the other Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War guns, as Call of Duty: Warzone players have shared their disappointment with how weak many of the weapons are.
It remains to be seen what nerfs take place for the weapon and its class going forward, but for now, Call of Duty: Warzone lobbies are full of DMR users. In both the original Verdansk and the new Rebirth Island map, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s tactical rifles reign supreme.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
