The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Glitch Lets Players Keep Bow of Light

A recently discovered The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild trick enables players to keep one of the most powerful weapons in the game. The newly found glitch lets players hang on to an item that should be otherwise impossible to stay in their inventory.

Originally releasing in 2017, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild continues to see a fanbase dedicated to discovering new hidden areas and secrets about the title. Players have logged near-countless hours unearthing and mastering new speed-running techniques that allow the game to be completed in new, interesting ways.

To that end, one of the most effective methods of shaving down runtimes is to access certain gear early, or hang on to powerful items in a “New Game+.” Arguably the best weapon that comes across Link’s possession is Zelda’s Bow of Light. Only available during the final boss battle, the most powerful bow in Breath of the Wild features an attack power of 100, as well as infinite ammo and durability. Given that the game ends once it’s used to defeat Dark Beast Ganon, it was deemed impossible to use the Bow of Light outside of the climactic battle –  until now.

The Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild players can now keep the legendary ranged weapon thanks to YouTuber LegendofLinkk’s “Memory Storage” glitch discovery. The glitch in question is actually fairly complicated, and requires players to trick the data to carry across save files. Fully detailed in the video below, players need to have already acquired a specific set of gear and achievements before even attempting it. These include the Travel Medallion, upgraded Sheikah Sensor, and at least one memory and side-quest. Players must then follow a complex and specific series of steps that largely involve toggling the game’s various menus. Players who manage to do the roughly 30-step process correctly will be rewarded with keeping any items in their inventory – the Bow of Light included.

This new discovery has massive implications for the Nintendo RPG’s speedrunning community. While previous 100 percent speedruns for Breath of the Wild clocked in at about 50 hours, the new glitch will most certainly undercut that time. Gamers effectively can now breeze through many early elements of the game made difficult or otherwise impossible without certain gear. It should be interesting to see what gamers will be able to do with the newly found trick.

Beyond all the tricks and techniques players are using for the current game, many Nintendo fans are still waiting for new info on the Breath of the Wild sequel. While there hasn’t been anything particularly significant since the “Breath of the Wild 2″ E3 2019 trailer, many are predicting it to be the all-time best-selling game in the franchise. 2021 does actually mark The Legend of Zelda franchise’s 35th anniversary, so hopefully plenty of news regarding the Hero of Time is just on the horizon.
