Cyberpunk 2077 Has an Unused Monorail System | Game Rant

For better or for worse, Cyberpunk 2077 has dominated the video game conversation at the end of 2020. After countless controversies, discoveries, opinions, and speculations, Night City is still finding ways to surprise players weeks after its launch earlier this month.

Despite the now-infamous Cyberpunk 2077 bugs and glitches, it’s hard to deny the sheer amount of content, lore, and discovery that is packed into the game. One such surprise came from a Reddit user who made a discovery that lends itself nicely to more speculation about CD Projekt Red’s futuristic RPG.

User u/Sybekul posted an in-game clip of of what appears to be a monorail in Night City. Remaining structurally solid in-game, the player was able to follow the path track to what appears to be a signed station, confirming itself as Night City Area Rapid Transit, or NCART. The gamer is even able to enter the would-be station, although it appears unfurnished and mostly barren upon entry. The doors however remain fully functional, allowing free access to the structure without any kind of glitch to make entry possible.

Comments on the posts help give possible context to this finding that may indicate a change in development and overall gameplay for Cyberpunk 2077It is completely possible that the monorail was not only simply an in-game asset, but a potential fast travel option for players. In the game’s current state, fast travel is accomplished by visiting tourist information center kiosks or station gates to gain access to the appropriate menu. Riding a monorail could, in theory, give the player a much greater sense of immersion while role-playing, as well as giving players more time to take in Night City.

With frequent delays and allegations over controversial crunch during Cyberpunk 2077’s development, it’s not hard to imagine a variety of concepts, gameplay mechanics, and features being cut before launch day. With stock prices falling and pending lawsuits over Cyberpunk 2077‘s launch condition to consider, CD Projekt Red will undoubtedly remain one of the busiest and most talked about development studios in all of the video game industry.

CD Projekt Red has announced its full focus on frequent patches and updates to help alleviate the game-breaking bugs and overall performance issues, particularly on the PS4 and Xbox One. This task will certainly take up the majority of the company’s time, as it rightfully should over the next few weeks and months. Getting Cyberpunk 2077 to run and play at an acceptable level on the consoles it was marketed for should be the first priority. It will be interesting to see if later in the game’s life cycle, once the controversial problems with the game are addressed, if players will get to board the Monorail via an update or DLC.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, and will launch in 2021 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
