Genshin Impact‘s update 1.2 has brought players a whole new map section to explore, called Dragonspine. This update has also brought some more quests to collect, and one of these is the quest chain called A Land Entombed.
In order to get this quest, players will have to talk to Hertha in Mondstadt. She will get the quest chain started, asking players to look for a lost journal somewhere in a place called the South Base Camp. Once players find this location and its journal, they will be called back to the Base Camp to speak with Stevens in Galesong Hill. After that, they will be sent out to find two more journals; the first will be located under the Dragonspine Statue of the Seven, while the second requires completing a complex puzzle to get to.
In order to get to the third location, players will want to use the same Genshin Impact Waypoint they used to get the first journal in the South Base Camp, which is right by the Starglow Cavern.
Head southwest from the waypoint, down the hill. There will be a square pool filled with ice, with a pyre at each corner.
Players will notice that there are two Pyro seelie floating around the square area. These two are the main part of the puzzle; players will have to startle the two seelie in the correct direction in order to light all four pyres and break the ice. This puzzle is confusing at first, then simple once players get the hang of it, similar to the Pressure Plate Puzzle in Dragonspine.
First, head to the seelie to the west of the pool. Chase that one toward the western corner, then run across the pool.
As soon as the seelie players have already chased is at the southern corner, chase the second seelie toward the southern pyre. This should get all four pillars lit at the same time and break the ice.
Keep in mind while working on this puzzle that characters can still take damage from the Sheer Cold; make sure to have a Warming Bottle or even just go to Albedo’s Test Run for warmth. The seelie will also keep players warm, so keep that in mind while running from edge to edge.
The second layer under the ice will be a circle of six pyres with three warming seelie in between them on one side.
Starting at the westernmost seelie, players need to move all the seelie clockwise.
This will unlock the second layer, and the Ruin Guard that has been asleep in the corner will come to life. It will attack, and this elite will be level 71, so be careful. Once it is defeated, players will find the third journal in a chest on the opposite side of the pool from the Ruin Guard, under the arch. It will be to the right of the strange Dragonspine ice that is in one corner.
The chest won’t appear until the Guard is defeated. In the chests will also be some loot and free Mora for player’s trouble.
Genshin Impact is available for mobile, PC, and PS4, with a Switch version in the works.
