Pokemon GO’s Christmas holiday festivities may be coming to a close, but the next party is right around the corner. The New Year’s event arrives in just a few days and brings a handful of new bonuses and features for players to take advantage of – including the chance to pickup a new shiny Pokemon.
The New Year’s event that will help ring in 2021 is going to offer players the chance to hatch shiny Wynaut. Although Wynaut may not have a major impact on the Pokemon GO metagame, that doesn’t mean it’s not going to be a popular shiny to hunt down. There are plenty of completionists out there who are trying to obtain a complete shiny dex, so this chance to hatch shiny Wynaut should end up being very popular.
That said, shiny or rare Pokemon being available through eggs alone have caused some serious drama in the past, so it will be interesting to see what kind of success rates Pokemon GO players have as they work through the upcoming event. The festivities kick off on New Year’s Eve, so players should start planning their strategy now…
First off, keep in mind that Wynaut is going to be hatching from 2km Eggs during the New Year’s event. That means that between Thursday, December 31, 2020, at 10 PM local time and Monday, January 4, 2020, at 10 PM trainers need to pick up and hatch as many new 2km Eggs as possible.
2km Eggs can be obtained by visiting and spinning Pokestops and players should consider investing in some Super Incubators to speed things up throughout the event if they have extra Pokecoins (or real world dollars) to spare. Trainers should also try to clear our their Egg storage slots to make room for the new 2km Eggs on December 31 if they are able to.
Obtaining a shiny from a hatch is a bit tougher than doing so from regular spawns, where players can just use Incense and catch as many of the specific Pokemon as possible during a given event. Instead, obtaining a shiny Wynaut is going to be all about maximizing the number of 2km Egg hatches during the event window.
Clear out space for new Eggs on December 31, 2020
Obtain 2km Eggs from Pokestops during NYE 2021 event
Use extra incubators to get through as many 2km Eggs as possible
As trainers continue working through these amazing events and enjoying the early days of the GO Beyond update, they may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters and completing their Pokedex is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS.
