Attack On Titan’s Final Season Has An English Dub Coming In January

Funimation has recently announced that the English dub for Attack on Titan‘s final season is coming very soon. One of the more recognized anime shows outside of Japan, Attack on Titan has been a fairly successful show, garnering multiple seasons, several video game adaptations, and renewed interest in the original manga. English fans have been awaiting the dub of the final season, which will be delivered as it is finished episode by episode.

For those unfamiliar, Attack on Titan is set in a world where humanity lives behind three large walls. Beyond that barrier, the rest of the world has been consumed by human-eating Titans, which are a constant threat to the last of the human population. When the story initially picks up, the Titans are believed to have destroyed all of the humans outside the walls over 100 years prior.

The actual main character is Eren Yeager, living in the town of Shiganshina. Unfortunately for humanity, in the year 845 one of the walls is breached by two new types of Titan, the Colossal and the Armored. Though Eren manages to escape, his mother is eaten by one of the Titans. Swearing revenge, he joins the military in order to protect humanity from the looming Titan threat.

That is where the story began, carrying on from there in the many years since. In the time since its release, the manga has become one of the best selling of all time, and the anime adaptation has had three seasons already, with the fourth and final season currently in the process of being released.

The final season premiered on December 7 on the Japan Broadcasting Corporation network, with Funimation and Crunchyroll streaming the final season with English subtitles as it goes up. Funimation has recently revealed that an official English dub will begin streaming on January 10 of 2021 and that each dubbed episode will be released as it is recorded and finalized.

This work has no doubt been made more difficult by the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, as recording can no longer easily take place in public locations. In the meantime, Funimation has been doing its best to keep fans up to date with their “Dub From Home” updates, so everyone is informed as to when the latest episodes of their favorite shows will have an official dub. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly, and English speaking fans can enjoy the final season of Attack on Titan without significant delays.

Attack on Titan is currently streaming on Funimation and Crunchyroll, with the official dub starting January 10th.
