Cyberpunk 2077’s Free DLCs Start Early 2021 | Game Rant

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red originally planned to announce all of Cyberpunk 2077‘s DLC and expansions before the full game’s release. However, after Cyberpunk ended up suffering its third delay, CD Projekt Red President Adam Kicinski stated that the company would instead wait for the game to release before discussing its future projects. That way, gamers would actually have a tangible reason to look forward to what the company has in the works.

Now that Cyberpunk 2077‘s launch has come and gone, CD Project Red is following through with its revised plan. According to a new page on its official website, Cyberpunk 2077‘s free DLC will start arriving sometime early next year. An early-year launch implies that the DLC will arrive sometime mid-February at the earliest and late March or early April at the latest. The Cyberpunk 2077 page displaying this announcement asks viewers to “stay tuned,” so more info on the release should be available soon.

It’s unclear precisely what the free DLC will include, but it’ll probably consist of cosmetics. Additionally, CD Projekt Red claims that it’s learned a lot from handling the Witcher 3‘s DLCs, so, with that in mind, the developer will likely add new Cyberpunk side quests, which will undoubtedly come will their own cosmetic rewards as well. Also, the Witcher 3 received new combat animations with its free DLC, so that could be on the table for Cyberpunk too.

It’s likely that CD Projekt Red won’t be announcing any of the major Cyberpunk expansions to go along with the free DLC announcements anytime soon. The full game’s delay certainly set the developer back on its progress with these things, so it may wait a little longer before revealing what exactly it has in store. Luckily, Cyberpunk 2077 is a massive title, so it offers plenty of things to do in the meantime, and if the free DLCs do include side quests, they should help hold fans over as well.

At this point, CD Projekt Red’s biggest hurdle consists of all of the glitches Cyberpunk 2077 is afflicted with. The game plays so roughly on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One that not only has Sony and Microsoft had to start handing out mass refunds, but the game has a disclaimer attached to it that warns anyone interested in buying it on those consoles. The glitches have even netted CD Projekt Red a class-action lawsuit, which may or may not go through.

Cyberpunk 2077 is on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions coming in 2021.
