Despite Halo Infinite now being announced for release in late 2021, the game was near-completion and approaching its official launch just months ago. 343 Industries is taking the extra year of development time to make improvements to the game, but there’s some worry that story elements of Halo Infinite could be leaked in the time being. Fans hunting for such info believe they may have discovered something in a Twitter reply from the voice actor for Halo‘s Arbiter character.
Keith David, who voiced Arbiter in Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 5, decided to tease fans this past week. Fans are understandably anxious for new Halo Infinite details, given the recent delay. As such, fans have been asking David questions about his role in the game. One user messaged David, asking him if he’s able to tell Halo fans if he’s involved in Halo Infinite. David doesn’t reveal any secrets, of course. He says instead that, “I’d have to kill you,” before saying whether he’s involved with the project.
Fans, as they are wont to do, are running with David’s response. Their line of thought is if David wasn’t involved in Halo Infinite, he wouldn’t have to play coy regarding the question. That he can’t give a real answer is evidence of his involvement with Halo Infinite, as he’s likely under an NDA regarding his involvement. That’s what fans are hoping for, at least.
There’s no real evidence of David’s involvement in Halo Infinite to be found in his Twitter response, of course. David’s just having some fun with his fans. If David was involved, the bulk if not the entirety of his work has already been done. It’s possible that 343 will be doing some further Halo Infinite story development or rewrites with this additional year. If David was going to share any information about his involvement with Halo Infinite, he would have done so by now.
With that said, it’s difficult to imagine David not being involved in Halo Infinite. Halo 5 players will remember that Arbiter and Master Chief are reunited within the game. These two characters both have more story to tell. It’s just a question of whether 343 wants to tell Arbiter’s story in Halo Infinite or if its plans for the character lie elsewhere.
All that’s left to do is to wait for Halo Infinite‘s release in the fall of 2021. While potential leaks are exciting to consider, after waiting this long fans and 343 both deserve Halo Infinite‘s story to be kept as secret as possible.
Halo Infinite releases fall 2021 on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
