One savvy Apex Legends player has learned how to defy gravity with Octane and walk on air – kind of. Thanks to some wise usage of Octane’s jump pad, it seems as if Octane can float through the sky in Apex Legends, which in many ways has been a dream of his.
Season 7 of Apex Legends has been going strong for about two months now, meaning players have settled into the current meta quite nicely. It was not Season 7, nor will it be Season 8, that Octane received his big buff in Apex Legends (that was back in the summer). He did not get the ability to walk on the air, but one player seems to have learned the ability to do so.
A Reddit post has blown up on the r/apexuniversity page. The forum is dedicated to high-level Apex Legends play, for those who want to how to better themselves for ranked play or perhaps put together teams for tournaments. The Octane move is rather niche, but it could get players out of a pickle in tough spots and should be considered a pro tip for using Octane.
In the video, the player has a teammate that is down and dead, meaning all that is left to do to save the day is pick up the banner for the respawn. There seems to be quite a lot of enemies about, so instead of passing over the bridge, or using the jump pad and making an obvious and loud entrance (something Octane is used to), the player throws the jump pad at the edge of the bridge and hops under the bridge. Then, very strategically, the Octane main uses the double jump while under the bridge, giving the appearance of walking on air, to stealthily make it to the other side. This allows Octane to snag that banner in a very daring way, but safe from enemy gunfire. Octane is also all about adrenaline rush dares, so this move is right up his alley.
Of course, Octane is not really walking on air in this video, but the visual effect is still very cool, which of course is what Octane is all about as a Legend. Respawn has communicated in the past that not all Legends are created equal, and Octane is one that is made for fun and flash over anything else, and that is clear in this video.
There is a lot to look forward to with Apex Legends in the next season and in 2021, as Respawn continues to support the game. From being surprise launched less than two years ago to building up a large audience of fans, the players continue to find new ways to enjoy the experience.
Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A Switch version is currently in development.
