Call of Duty: Warzone fans have taken to Twitter and Reddit to share their frustrations with the battle royale title’s latest meta. Since integration with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War began, players have been struggling to cope with the overuse of the overpowered DMR 14 in Call of Duty: Warzone matches.
One of the first to point out Call of Duty: Warzone’s DMR issue, FaZe member and loadout expert NICKMERCS dubbed the new meta “DMRzone.” Incredibly prevalent in nearly every match of Call of Duty: Warzone over the past month, the professional player’s concerns proved true. Alongside the equally overpowered MAC-10 SMG, which Dr. Disrespect recently called out in a demand for change, the meta has led to a version of the free-to-play title that many see as unplayable.
All over the internet, clips have been shared that showcase the spectacularly overpowered DMR in action. One clip from Redditor Richardburr is particularly ridiculous, as it shows the player gunned down instantly upon stumbling across a DMR-user in Verdansk. Despite having full armor, Richardburr is killed almost instantly with the gun, displaying the problem clearly for the few that consider the weapon even somewhat balanced. The clip is particularly absurd from the enemy player’s angle, as the killcam shows just how fast the DMR kills.
While Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s integration with Call of Duty: Warzone has brought about good and bad changes, it is hard to argue against the DMR’s introduction being a major negative. A broken gun in just about every way possible, the weapon decimates foes at short and long ranges alike. With multiple Redditors like WonkyMankey commenting on Richardburr’s clip of the DMR and saying that they are “done with WZ” until the weapon is nerfed, hopefully changes come soon.
Unfortunately, with Raven Software hard at work on fixing Call of Duty: Warzone’s teleportation bugs and other exploits, it could be some time before a proper nerf for the gun arrives. That said, WonkyMankey’s comment did include a suggestion regarding a temporary fix for the problem. Pushing for the weapon to be removed “until they figure out what to do” when it comes to balancing. Considering Call of Duty: Warzone’s developers were willing to completely remove the attack helicopter from the game while working on a fix for the original invisibility exploit, doing the same with the DMR could be necessary.
Until something changes, players should only expect the game’s most unstoppable weapon to continue being used. With the only way for players to beat a DMR-user being through a DMR loadout of their own, the Call of Duty: Warzone meta had never been more restrictive.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
