While Cyberpunk 2077 has had one of the most disastrous launches in recent gaming history, no one can deny that those who can get the game to work have been having a good time playing. The game certainly has a lot to offer with over 70 sidequests for players to explore.
Choices made in quests can affect the ending of the game and sidequests are no different at times. Both Sides is a side job in the game that can even lead to an entire romance option in the game if players plan out their playthrough.
5 Unlocking Both Sides
Players wanting to take on this side job will need to make sure they complete the main job Disasterpiece before they even have a chance to unlock it. From here, players will have to complete the main job Double Life and wait for 24 in-game hours for a call from Judy Alvarez. Once players receive the call, the Both Sides questline can begin.
As of writing this article, there is a bug in the game that can prevent Judy from calling the player. Thankfully, there is an easy workaround. Players can manually save the game and fully close out of Cyberpunk 2077. Once they start the game again and get back to playing, they should immediately receive the call from Judy to start her first side mission.
4 Evelyn Parker’s Fate
Players will have just worked with Evelyn Parker during the Double Life quest so players should be ready for a bit of an emotional hit when heading into the apartment building. Content Warning: This questline contains mentions of suicide and has serious emotional scenes so players should be sure they are braced for impact.
Players will get a call from Judy telling them to come to her apartment as quickly as possible without any details. Once they arrive at her apartment, she’ll call them into the bathroom where they’ll see Evelyn’s dead body covered in blood in the bathtub after a successful suicide attempt.
3 Next Steps
The quest remains relatively simple but highly emotional. Players can ask if Judy has checked her pulse and how the suicide took place. Eventually, players will need to choose to lift Evelyn out of the tub and help carry her to the bed to proceed in the quest while Judy calls the police. The phone call will not go well, with Judy getting progressively angrier at their cavalier attitude towards the situation at hand.
After the call, players will have three dialogue options to choose from:
- Death’s a daily thing for ’em
- Went easy on them, anyway.
- NCPD’s understaffed.
While none of these choices affect the questline or future romance options with Judy, players can choose to pick “Went easy on them, anyway.” to get a less angry reaction from her than other options. She’ll say she wants to put some nice clothes on Evelyn and ask the player to wait outside. Players need to leave the apartment and close the door to advance the quest.
2 Comforting Judy
Players will then be automatically transitioned to a scene on the rooftop. Content Warning: some of the dialogue options presented will lead to discussions on some of the more messed up things Evelyn has gone through, so players that can’t stomach darker subjects might want to avoid deeper interrogation. The following dialogue options can be chosen from:
- [Give cigarette] Fine, here.
-No can do.
-Sorry. Out.
- She smoked some strange brand
- Want it back?
- Can’t believe she gave up
- Dunno what to say
- Stay strong
- Good thing I killed him (If the player killed Woodman during Automatic Love)
-Had no idea he was such a monster
-So you found other recordings?
-What’d Woodman do?
- [Stand] Anything comes up – call
-Sure you don’t need anything?
The truth of the matter is that no matter what choices the player makes for this dialogue, the romance options for Judy and the quest in general will not be affected in any way. Still, players should be kind and consider picking options that would help a grieving friend. Even in a videogame, it can’t hurt to be kind right?
1 What Comes Next
After the previous scene, players will be able to exit the building and complete the quest. From here, players can begin the next quest required to romance Judy called Ex-Factor. After that quest, players will need to complete Talkin’ ‘Bout A Revolution, Pisces, and Pyramid Song to be able to romance Judy.
It’s worth noting that players who have characters without a feminine voice chosen will be unable to romance Judy regardless of what quests they take on. So players that particularly like Judy and want the chance to romance her should be sure to plan out their character to do so at the beginning of the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. It will release on PS5 and Xbox Series X in 2021.
