Kingdom Come: Deliverance Listed for Nintendo Switch By Mistake

Occasionally, games releases can get leaked or prematurely listed on digital shops, such as the Nintendo eShop. Those listings can sometimes point to an upcoming announcement or release for a game, but there are times when game listings might just be a mistake. It seems the latter situation is the case with a recent Kingdom Come: Deliverance listing on Nintendo’s release schedule.

Warhorse Studios’ Kingdom Come: Deliverance released in 2018, but it has retained a dedicated fan base. The indie title has sold over three million copies, and players have enjoyed multiple DLC packs for the game. The RPG stars Henry, the son of a blacksmith, in the historically-accurate Kingdom of Bohemia in 15th century Europe.

Earlier today, a listing for Kingdom Come: Deliverance Royal Edition was spotted on Nintendo’s Japanese release schedule next to Silver 2425. Both were shown as releasing on February 18, 2021. Silver 2425 is already confirmed to have a Switch release, but no such announcement was made about Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

It looks like the release was listed mistakenly. Popular Kingdom Come: Deliverance YouTuber Sexy Biscuit reached out to the developers to see if the listing was accurate, and they responded saying, “Unfortunately it is not real. The only news is, there is going to be released [sic] KDC RE on PS4 thanks to DMM games. That’s all.”

It is not unheard of for game companies to deny leaks and shut down speculations, even if they are true. However, for now it seems Warhorse Studios does not plan to release the game on Switch. It is quite possible that Warhorse Studios is looking to make a Switch version, but with DMM Games helping with the Japanese port, the focus might just be on the PS4. On the bright side, the original game was also recently added to the PS Now collection.

While Japanese PS4 players will be able to don some armor and experience Henry’s story in Kingdom Come: Deliverance Royal Edition, any fans who want to play the game on the Switch will just have to wait for now.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
