The free PlayStation Plus games for December 2020 have been removed and now fans should have access to the free PS Plus games for January 2021. Unfortunately, it seems some PlayStation Plus subscribers are having difficulty claiming the free PS Plus games for January 2021, with users across PS4 and PS5 unable to claim their free games just yet.
When attempting to claim the free PlayStation Plus games for January 2021, users will run into an error message when clicking on Shadow of the Tomb Raider, whereas both GreedFall and Maneater are still asking for payment. It’s unclear what is causing this issue, as typically there haven’t been any issues with the free PS Plus games, but one has to imagine that PlayStation will sort out the problem sooner rather than later. It’s also unclear how widespread this problem is, but multiple users have reported issues on social media and various online forums.
In the meantime, PS Plus subscribers will simply have to wait for the free PS Plus games for January 2021 to be made available to them. When exactly that will be remains to be seen, but it shouldn’t be too much longer.
The free PS Plus games for January 2021 consist of two PS4 titles and one PS5 title, which has been the norm since the PS5 launched last November. On the PS4 side of things, users will soon be able to claim both Shadow of the Tomb Raider and GreedFall. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the third installment in the Tomb Raider reboot series, whereas GreedFall is an action-RPG that is considered by many to be a hidden gem of PS4 generation.
PS5 owners can access both Shadow of the Tomb Raider and GreedFall thanks to the console’s backward compatibility with PS4, but they have a bonus game to add to their collection as well in the form of Maneater. Maneater is a unique game that has players terrorizing people and other sea creatures as a vicious shark. It’s certainly one of the most bizarre action-RPGs to come out in recent times, and it should make an interesting addition to one’s library of PS5 games.
Once the free PS Plus games for January 2021 are made properly available to subscribers, they will be able to check out Maneater and the other games for themselves. It’s worth pointing out that this isn’t the first hiccup that has come about from the PS Plus free games for January 2021, though. Sony has issued refunds to customers who purchased Maneater prior to it being announced as one of the free PS Plus games, which is something else that typically doesn’t happen.
