When Call of Duty: Warzone kicked off its Black Ops Cold War integration with Season 1, it saw a huge influx of new guns. The vast majority of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War weapons were added to Call of Duty: Warzone overnight, throwing the game’s balance into some chaos. Some of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War weapons have proven to be far too overpowered in Warzone, with the DMR 14 being the most notorious example.
Fans and celebrities alike have complained about how Call of Duty: Warzone‘s DMR is so overpowered that it is making the game “unplayable” for many people. Raven Software, the studio that is now leading development on Call of Duty: Warzone content, has promised that a DMR nerf is coming in a future balance update for the game. Raven Software didn’t specify exactly how it will be nerfing the DMR in Call of Duty: Warzone, but it did specify that the nerf would only apply to the gun in Warzone. It will remain untouched in standard Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer.
Meanwhile, the DMR isn’t the only weapon that Raven Software has in its crosshairs. The studio has also announced plans to address the Type 63, Mac 10, and dual pistols. Call of Duty: Warzone‘s Mac 10 is perhaps the second most notorious weapon in the game right now, with many players rolling a DMR/Mac 10 set-up in the game.
Call of Duty: Warzone balance changes will be made on a regular basis, and this is far from the first time that overpowered guns needed to be dialed down in the game. All kinds of OP Call of Duty: Warzone guns have been re-balanced since the game’s launch last year, and it’s not something that’s going to end anytime soon.
Balance changes have also been made to Call of Duty: Warzone equipment as well. There once was a time when virtually every Call of Duty: Warzone loadout had C4, as the explosive devices were crucial to the game’s meta. Call of Duty: Warzone‘s C4 was nerfed and it is no longer nearly as prevalent as it once was in the battle royale game, and after the upcoming balance update, it’s quite possible the same will be said for weapons like the DMR and Mac 10.
But with Call of Duty: Warzone constantly adding new content, it’s more likely than not that future weapons will once again upset the game’s balance. For example, Call of Duty: Warzone Season 2 will undoubtedly add more weapons to the battle royale, and it will be interesting to see how the community reacts to them.
Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
