Call of Duty: Warzone has been plagued by some serious balancing issues ever since it integrated itself with Black Ops Cold War. The Season 1 update saw a slew of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War guns added to Warzone, and it quickly became apparent than a few of these guns were overpowered, especially the DMR 14. Raven Software has listened to fan feedback about these overpowered Call of Duty: Warzone guns, and has issued an update to address the problems.
Raven Software has released a new Call of Duty: Warzone update that looks to better-balance the game by nerfing its most overpowered weapons. First and foremost, the Call of Duty: Warzone DMR has been nerfed so that headshot damage has been reduced and the gun has increased recoil. This should go a long way in making the DMR a much less overpowered gun in Call of Duty: Warzone, though the jury is still out as to whether or not the nerf goes far enough. It should be noted that this DMR nerf only applies to the gun as it is in Call of Duty: Warzone, not how it functions in Black Ops Cold War.
The new Call of Duty: Warzone update also nerfs the Type 63, reducing headshot damage and increasing recoil for that gun as well. The Mac-10, which has been commonly found in many Call of Duty: Warzone loadouts lately and usually paired with the DMR, has had its headshot multiplier decreased. Raven Software has also nerfed dual pistols in Call of Duty: Warzone, increasing their hip fire spread and reducing their damage range.
The new Call of Duty: Warzone update should please most fans of the game, as many have been complaining online about how overpowered the DMR is. Not only have fans and Call of Duty pro players been speaking out about the DMR, some celebrities have also complained about the gun on social media. Considering the intense criticism that has been aimed at the DMR, it’s not surprising that Raven Software moved fast to nerf it and other overpowered guns in the game.
If the Call of Duty: Warzone DMR nerf is significant enough, it should drastically shake up the battle royale’s meta. It will be interesting to see what new loadouts rise to the top as must-haves following this new wave of nerfs.
Looking ahead, new weapons will be added to Call of Duty: Warzone in future updates, all of which have potential to be overpowered weapons themselves. If new weapons added to Call of Duty: Warzone in Season 2 are overpowered, though, fans should be able to count on Raven Software to address the issue as fast as possible.
Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
